MoU between CSIR and NCSM

⇒ Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) signed a MoU to setting up of Science Museums at select CSIR Laboratories.

Aim:

The MoU aims at setting up Science Museums at select CSIR Laboratories to promote scientific curiosity and awareness among the common people across all sections of society.

Speaking after signing the MoU, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Government will be setting up Science Museums across the country to promote scientific temper, particularly among children and the younger generation.

Inauguration of India Export Initiative and IndiaXports 2021 Portal

⇒ Union Minister for MSMEs Shri Narayan Rane virtually inaugurated the India Export Initiative and IndiaXports 2021 Portal of India SME Forum in New Delhi 29 September 2021.

IndiaXports aims to orient MSMEs free of cost, with the objective of focussing on the untapped export potential in existing tariff lines and supporting MSMEs in order to grow the number of exporting MSMEs and increase MSME exports by 50% in 2022.

This initiative features an Info Portal which serves as a knowledge base for exports by Indian MSMEs with the required information related to export potential for all the 456 tariff lines along with the potential markets as well as trends in exports, export procedures and lots more.

Book "Jumbos on the Edge: The Future of Elephant Conservation in India"

⇒ A book “Jumbos on the Edge: The Future of Elephant Conservation in India” by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Chadha has been launched on 29 September 2021.

About the Author:

Shri Sanjeev Kumar Chadha is an Indian Forest Service officer currently serving as Managing Director of National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.

Indian Elephant:

Indian Elephant (Elephasmaximus) has been recognized as National Heritage Animal of India and highest degree of protection has given under Indian Wildlife Protection Act (1972).

India has the largest population of Asian Elephants with 30000 wild and about 3600 captive elephants.

Clean India Programme

⇒ The Department of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Government of India) in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava organized nationwide Clean India Programme from 1st October 2021 to 31st October 2021.

The programme was organised in 6 Lakh villages of 744 Districts across the country through the networks of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan(NYKS) affiliated Youth Clubs & National Service Scheme affiliated Institutions.

The cleanliness drive was launched from Prayagraj in UP by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport, Shri Anurag Thkaur.

Aim:

The aim of the cleanliness drive was to create awareness, mobilize people and ensure their involvement in Cleaning waste mainly Single Use Plastic waste throughout the country.

Important Day

89th Anniversary of IAF

⇒ The Indian Air Force proudly celebrated its 89th anniversary on 08 October 2021. 

The Indian Air Force was officially established on 8 October 1932.

International Day of Older Persons 2021

⇒ International Day of Older Persons is observed every year on 1st October for the cause of elderly persons.

Theme:

The theme for United Nations International Day of Older Persons 2021 was “Digital Equity for All Ages”.

The theme affirms the need for access and meaningful participation in the digital world by older persons.

Significance:

The aim of the day is to spread awareness about the need for health provisions and social care for elderly.

History:

On 14 December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly (by resolution 45/106) designated 1 October the International Day of Older Persons.

Celebrations in India:

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organised VAYO NAMAN Programme on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Vayoshreshtha Samman-2021:

In this programme, the Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu presented Vayoshreshtha Samman-2021 to senior citizens.

Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu presented the National Award-Vayoshreshtha Samman 2021 to senior geriatrician V S Natarajan.

The award presented to Dr. Natarajan for the elders welfare initiatives that were provided through the Dr V S Natarajan Geriatric Foundation, instituted four years ago.

This year, the awards were given to 13 individuals and private organisations.

    • The Government of India confers ‘National Award-Vayoshreshtha Samman’ on eminent senior citizens and institutions in recognition of their service towards elderly persons.
Two Portals:

The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu also launched the SACRED (Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity) portal, SAGE (Seniorcare Aging Growth Engine) portal and the Elderly Line helpline for elders on this occasion.

These two portals have been designed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

The SAGE portal aims to encourage entrepreneurs in the area of elderly care. The SACRED portal will connect the senior citizens with job providers in the private sector.
