Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar assumes charge as CEO of UIDAI

Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on 01 January 2025.

  • The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UIDAI is the legal representative and administrative head of the Authority.

» Along with CEO UIDAI, he continues to be an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

About Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar:
  • Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar is an officer of the 1995 batch IAS from the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
  • A graduate and gold medalist from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, he held several important positions both at the Centre and in his cadre state.
  • Previously he was the Secretary Finance, Secretary MSME, Secretary Technical Education and Divisional Commissioner Department of Land Revenue in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
  • He has served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
  • In Uttar Pradesh, he served as the Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries.
About UIDAI
  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (“Aadhaar Act 2016”) on 12 July 2016 by the Government of India, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
  • The Aadhaar Act 2016 has been amended by the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Act, 2019 (14 of 2019) w.e.f. 25.07.2019.
  • UIDAI was created to issue Unique Identification numbers (UID), named as “Aadhaar”, to all residents of India.
