Sri Basava International Award

⇒ Karnataka government has selected Sri Basavaliga Pattaddevaru, senior seer of Bhalki Hiremath, for the prestigious Sri Basava International Award. Minister for Kannada and Culture V. Sunil Kumar presented the award on 18 August 2021 in Bengaluru.

The septuagenarian seer has spent over five decades in the Lingayat religious institution in Bidar district. The septuagenarian seer has set up educational and charitable institutions, apart from spreading the message of Sri Basaveshwara.

International exhibition on Folk & Tribal Art Paintings

⇒ Shri Upendra Prasad Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles inaugurated an international exhibition on Folk & Tribal Art Paintings “Reetiyon se Kalakritiyon ka Safar” at National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy.

The international exhibition was organised by Office of Development Commissioner, Handicrafts in collaboration with Odi Art Centre from 18th August to 3rd September, 2021.

This special exhibition was curated by the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy, New Delhi, in collaboration with Odi Art Centre.

125 Folk and Tribal Paintings of 7 countries- India – 102, South Korea – 8, Indonesia – 1, Myanmar – 2, Sri Lanka – 2, Bangladesh – 3 and Nepal – 7 were on displayed.

Launch of International Bullion Exchange

⇒ Shri Injeti Srinivas, Chairperson, International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), launched the pilot run/soft launch of International Bullion Exchange.

The International Bullion Exchange is scheduled to go live on October 1, 2021 the Foundation Day of IFSCA.

The International Bullion Exchange shall be the “Gateway for Bullion Imports into India”, wherein all the bullion imports for domestic consumption shall be channelized through the exchange.

MoU between ICMR and FIND

⇒ Recently, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Council of medical Research (ICMR), India and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), Switzerland.

This MoU has been signed in February’2021 by India to strengthen the relation within the framework of the international scientific and technological collaboration and to promote cooperation in fields of mutual interest.

MoU Between India and USA

⇒ The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved Memorandum of Understanding between India and United States of America on cooperation in the field of Geology.

The MoU has been signed between Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines, India, and the Florida International University board of trustees on behalf of its Department of Earth and Environment, College of Arts, Sciences and Education, USA.

The objectives of the MoU are:

» To understand the geologic and tectonic environment of the generation and emplacement of post-collisional magmatism in India-Asia Collision margin in particular.

» Construct a model of post-collisional magma genesis in continental collision zones in general and to construct the geologic history and tectonics of the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis.

This MoU will boost Geological knowledge regarding Eastern Himalaya Syntaxis and Ladakh Plutons.

Agreement Between BSNL and USOF

⇒ Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) has signed an Agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on 18 August 2021, for high quality and high speed internet access to North Eastern States.

Under the Agreement:

» USOF will provide financial support to BSNL for a period of three years for hiring the aforesaid International Bandwidth.

» For hiring 10 Gbps International Bandwidth for Internet Connectivity to Agartala from Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, Bangladesh via Cox Bazar/Kuakata.

» It will help citizens in better accessing various e-services such as e-governance, e-education, e-health, e-commerce, e-banking, etc.

2021 World Archery Youth Championships

⇒The 2021 World Archery Youth Championships was the 17th edition of the Championships. The event was held in Wrocław, Poland from 9th to 15th August, 2021, and was organised by World Archery.

India won the highest ever 15 medals including 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals at the Youth World Archery Championships.
