Indian Army Recruits Four Meritorious Sports Women

⇒ Giving a major impetus to Indian Army’s efforts to promote “Nari Shakti”, the Indian Army has recruited four meritorious sports women into the Corps of Military Police as Direct Entry Havildars under it’s Mission Olympic Programme.

These four meritorious sportswomen are Recruit Havildar Sakshi (Boxing), Recruit Havildar Arundhati Choudhary (Boxing), Recruit Havildar Bhateri (Wrestling) and Recruit Havildar Priyanka (Wrestling).

    • These sportspersons have created history by being pioneers in representing the Indian Army in the women’s section of the National Championship in the sports of boxing and wrestling.
    • They participated in the 6th Elite Women National Boxing Championship 2022 (19 to 26 December 2022) at Bhopal and Senior National Wrestling Championship (21 to 23 December 2022) at Vishakhapatnam.

Earlier in the year, Summy, an international level sportswoman who excels in 400 metres athletics and Jasmine Lamboria, Commonwealth Games 2022 Bronze medalist in Boxing were also recruited by the Indian Army.

UIDAI gets DSCI AISS Award 2022

⇒ The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has bagged a top data security award for best practices in the government sector.

» Data Security Council of India (DSCI), a not-for-profit, industry body on data protection in India, setup by NASSCOM awarded UIDAI for its significant role in securing national critical ‘Aadhaar’ infrastructure that provides digital identity-based welfare services to residents.

    • The jury recognized the forward-looking security strategy, good security practices for safeguarding residents’ demographic and biometric data and the proactive approach in addressing new age cyber security risks and threats through effective and efficient security governance and state of art security infrastructure deployment.

This award is another feather in the cap for UIDAI, which takes pride to be the first Government Organization to be Privacy Certified on leading industry standard (ISO27701) and one of the leading government institutions that is ahead in innovation and incubation of indigenized technology implementation.

» The award was given in the three day ‘Annual Information Security Summit (AISS)’ of DSCI in New Delhi.

    • Among over 270 nominations across five award categories, UIDAI was awarded by DCSI jury panel for ‘Best Security Practices in Government Sector’.

Khelo India’s New Dashboard

⇒ Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur launched the Khelo India’s new Dashboard on 23 December 2022 in New Delhi, which has all the statistical data related to the Khelo India Scheme and the Khelo India events.

Key Points:
    • The Khelo India Dashboard will be updated on real-time and aims to be a unique one-stop platform through which every citizen of the country will have access to all the information regarding the various offerings of the Khelo India Scheme.
    • The unique platform also has a database regarding Khelo India Centres (KICs), Khelo India Academies, SAI Training Centres & National Centre of Excellence (NCOEs) which in turn will help athletes find the closest centre where sports training is available in various disciplines.
    • The centres are geotagged on the map of India to help any athlete pursuing a certain sport find the centre of their choice across India.

9th Session of India Russia Working Group on Modernization & Industrial Cooperation

⇒ The 9th Session of the India Russia Working Group on Modernization & Industrial Cooperation of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation was held on December 23, 2022 in New Delhi.

Co-chair:

Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry co-chaired the Indian side; while H. E. Mr Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, co-chaired the Russian side.

Key Points:
    • The working group meeting was held as a part of series of meetings between the two countries under the India Russia Inter governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological Cooperation mechanism.
    • The Working Group reviewed the results of the eighth session of the working group in the focus sub-groups identified, namely modernization, mining and mineral fertilizers & chemicals.
    • The two sides highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to deepen and strengthen mutual cooperation in several areas.

6th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022

⇒ The 6th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022 was held at Tantya Tope Stadium in Bhopal Madhya Pradesh from 19th to 26th December 2022.

    • The 6th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022 was organised in association with MP Boxing Association and Department of Sports & Youth Welfare.

The Railways team topped the medals tally with 10 medals – five golds, three silvers and two bronze.
