National:

19th Global Edition and the 4th India Edition of World Leadership Congress and Awards:

  • In the 19th Global Edition and the 4th India Edition of World Leadership Congress and Awards, Team TRIFED, led by Shri Pravir Krishna, Managing Director, TRIFED has won 4 awards.

Hosted by the World Leadership Congress and Awards, the Economic Times presents Business Leader of the Year, which took place in Mumbai on February 17, 2021.

Recognised for its diligent efforts towards the transformation of lives of the tribal population across the country, TRIFED won a collective award of Excellence in PSU for investment in start-ups in the organisational award category of the Business Leader of the Year awards.

Shri Pravir Krishna, Managing Director won three awards in the Individual Category for his exemplary and inspirational leadership, these are: ‘CEO of the Year’; ‘Brand Builder of the Year’; & ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’.

6th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog:

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the sixth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog on 20th February 2021 via video conferencing.

The agenda of the meeting included deliberations on agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing, human resource development, service delivery at grassroots level and health & nutrition.

The Governing Council presents a platform to discuss inter-sectoral, inter-departmental and federal issues. It comprises the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers of States and Union Territories (UTs), with Legislatures and Lt Governors of other UTs. Ladakh got entry into the sixth meeting for the first time, in addition to the participation of Jammu and Kashmir as a UT.

'Make in India' lion statue in Bengaluru:

  • On 27 February 2021, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa inaugurated ‘Make in India’ lion statue in Bengaluru.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has installed the statue of the roaring lion at Windsor Square, which weighs over 1,000 kg, is made from fibre-reinforced plastic, is 23 feet long, 4.5 feet wide, and 10 feet high.

Swimming Event from Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Gateway of India:

  • 12 year old Miss Jiya Rai, daughter of Naval sailor Madan Rai, created history by swimming from Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Gateway of India, a distance of 36 Km in 08 hrs and 40 minutes, on 17 February 21.

She is a known case of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She dedicated the swimming feat to raise awareness about Autism.

The swimming event was conducted under observation of Swimming Association of Maharashtra, a recognised body of Swimming Federation of India.

Miss Jiya Rai was felicitated with a trophy by Ms Zarir N Baliwala, President of Greater Mumbai Amateur Aquatic Association.

3rd India Tourism Mart:

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare addressed the inaugural ceremony of the third India Tourism Mart through video conferencing on 18 February 2021.

It was organized by the Federation of Associations in India Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH).

Production in two new iron ore mines of Odisha:

  • On 18 February 2021, Union Minister for Mines, Shri Pralhad Joshi and Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik jointly inaugurated the production in two new iron ore mines of Odisha namely ‘Jiling-Langlota Iron ore Block’ and ‘Guali Iron ore Block’.

Both the mines have production capacity of 15 lakh tonnes per month and they possess approx. 275 million tonnes of consolidated iron ore reserves.

International:

'Statement of Intent' (SoI) between IndianOil Corp Ltd and M/s Greenstat Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd:

  • On 18 February 2021, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan witnessed the signing of a Statement of Intent for setting up of Centre of Excellence on Hydrogen between IndianOil Corp Ltd and M/s Greenstat Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Greenstat Norway.

This association aims to develop a Center of Excellence on Hydrogen (CoE-H) including CCUS and Fuel Cells by IndianOil and M/s Greenstat for clean energy in cooperation with Indo-Norwegian Hydrogen Cluster companies/organizations.

Death:

  • Senior Congress leader and sitting legislator in Himachal Pradesh Sujan Singh Pathania passed away on 12 February 2021. He was 77. He was sitting legislator from Fatehpur Assembly constituency in Kangra district.
