Dun & Bradstreet – Corporate Award 2021

⇒ SJVN has been conferred with prestigious Dun & Bradstreet – Corporate Award 2021 in the category of Best Growth Performance-Power. The award has been presented in a virtual conference titled India’s Top 500 Companies 2021.

SJVN has also ventured into Thermal Power, Wind and Solar energy generation, and into electricity transmission.

With a robust portfolio of 31 projects of about 10,000 MW in the pipeline, SJVN for itself has set an ambitious target of achieving 5000 MW installed capacity by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by 2040.

Theme of the event:

The central theme of the event was ‘Laying the Foundations for an ESG-Ready Corporate India’, which included keynote addresses by several eminent dignitaries and presentation of the Corporate Awards 2021.

About SJVN:

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), is an Indian public sector undertaking involved in hydroelectric power generation and transmission. It was incorporated in 1988 as Nathpa Jhakri Power Corporation.

'AYUSH AAPKE DWAR' campaign

⇒ Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched the ‘AYUSH AAPKE DWAR’ campaign from Mumbai by distributing medicinal plant saplings to citizens on 03 September 2021.

A total of 21 states participated in the launch activities, in which more than 2 lakh saplings were distributed.

This was as part of the National campaign which was launched by the AYUSH Ministry from more than 45 locations across the country.

Aim:

The campaign aims to distribute medicinal plant saplings to 75 lakh households across the country in one year.

Medicinal plants:

The medicinal plants include Tejpatta, Stevia, Ashoka, Jatamansi, Giloy/Guduchi, Ashwagandha, Kumari, Shatavari, Lemongrass, Guggulu, Tulsi, Sarpagandha, Kalmegh, Brahmi and Amla.

MoU between NeGD and National Law University, Delhi and National Law Institute University, Bhopal

⇒ Recently, National e-Governance Division has signed an MoU with National Law University, Delhi and National Law Institute University, Bhopal, to establish a Cyber Lab for the ‘Online Capacity Building Programme on Cyber Law, Crime Investigation and Digital Forensics’.

Goal of this programme:

To enable Police Officers, State Cyber Cells, Law Enforcement Agencies, Prosecutors and Judicial Officers to acquire requisite skills to deal with Cyber Forensics cases efficiently & effectively as per the Indian Cyber Law while adopting global best practices, standards and guidelines.

About NeGD:

In 2009, National e-Governance Division was created by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India as an Independent Business Division under the Digital India Corporation.

24th meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council

⇒ The Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the 24th meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) on 03 September 2021.

Discussion:

The meeting deliberated on the various mandates of the FSDC, viz., Financial Stability, Financial Sector Development, Inter-regulatory Coordination, Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Macro prudential supervision of the economy including the functioning of large financial conglomerates etc.

The Council also discussed the issues:

» Issues relating to management of stressed assets, strengthening institutional mechanism for financial stability analysis, financial inclusion, framework for resolution of financial institutions

» Issues related to IBC processes, banks’ exposure to various sectors and Government, data sharing mechanisms of government authorities, internationalisation of Indian Rupee and pension sector related issues

BRICS Digital Health Summit

⇒ Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar represented India at the BRICS ministerial conclave on 03 September 2021. India was the host of the BRICS Digital Health Summit.

Union Minister Dr. Pawar addressed the panel:
  • India’s priorities towards full adoption of digital health technologies at all levels
  • BRICS’s strategy in building a cadre of competent health informatics professionals using a standardized curriculum across BRICS countries
Discussion:

The panel discussed challenges and opportunities during the implementation of Digital Health.

Also discussed:

» India’s expectations from the development of a repository of evidence based digital technologies and innovations for health systems (under BRICS)

» India’s strategic approach to sustain the gains from use of digital innovations during COVID-19 in a sustainable manner towards building health systems resilience

Presided by:

The conclave was presided by Union Health Secretary Shri Rajesh Bhushan, who brought focus to the wide adoption of digital health in the COVID-19 Pandemic on the spectrum that included population surveillance, active case finding, communication with common citizens in crisis.

The embarking of nations on digital technology in embracing primary universal health coverage was highlighted.

Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium 2021

⇒ Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) attended the Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium 2021 (PACS-21) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii from 30 August to 02 September, 2021.

Theme:

The event themed “Enduring Cooperation towards Regional Stability” was attended by Air Chiefs from countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

Discussion:

The Symposium saw deliberations through panel discussions, table top exercises and keynote addresses on topics ranging from aspects of Regional Security and the significance of Air Domain Awareness, to cooperation amongst Air Forces for Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Operations.

Mr. Bhadauria also held bilateral and multilateral meetings on defence cooperation and security with Air Chiefs from eleven other countries.

Participation in PACS 2021 provided an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and deepen relationships with like-minded nations.
