Various major initiatives in Tripura worth over Rs 4350 crore

⇒ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Meghalaya and Tripura on 18th December 2022.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation various key initiatives worth over Rs 4350 crores in Agartala, Tripura on 18th December 2022.
Projects includes:

» A significant focus of the Prime Minister has been towards ensuring that everyone has a house of their own.

    • In a key step towards ensuring the same in the region, the Prime Minister launched the Grih Pravesh programme for beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural.
    • These houses, developed at a cost of over Rs 3400 crores, will cover over 2 lakh beneficiaries.

» With a focus on improving road connectivity, the Prime Minister inaugurated the project for widening the Agartala bypass (Khayerpur – Amtali) NH-08, which will help ease traffic congestion in Agartala city.

» He laid the foundation stones for 32 roads of more than 230 Km in length under PMGSY III (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) and for the improvement of 112 roads covering a distance of over 540 Km.

» The Prime Minister also inaugurated the State Institute of Hotel Management at Anandnagar and Agartala Government Dental College.

Second “Sushasan Saptah” (Good Governance Week 2022)

⇒ The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions celebrated Good Governance Week during 19th -25th December 2022.

» Union Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of State of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurate Good Governance Week- “Sushasan Saptah ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022” campaign on 19 December, 2022 in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
    • The Minister also inaugurated an Exhibition on Good Governance Practices and launched the dedicated campaign portal for ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022 (www.pgportal.gov.in/GGW22) for online updation of progress by District Collectors and State Governments.
About Campaign:
    • During the week, DARPG organized the Sushasan Saptah ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ 2022 a Nation-wide campaign.
    • ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022 was a Nation-wide campaign for Redressal of Public Grievances and Improving Service Delivery which was held in all Districts, States, and Union Territories of India.
    • Over 700 Districts Collectors participated in ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022.
    • The campaign focused on improving service delivery and redressal of public grievances across all the Tehsils/Districts of India and progress was reported by the District Collectors on a dedicated campaign portal.

Campaign was conducted with focus on the following issues directly touching the lives of citizens:

    • Redressal of pending public grievances in CPGRAMS
    • Redressal of public grievances in the State portals
    • No. of services added for online service delivery
    • Disposal of Service Delivery applications
    • Collation of Good Governance practices and their dissemination
    • Sharing of one success story per district on resolution of public grievances

» The objective of the ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022 campaign was to translate the vision of the Prime Minister to bring citizens across all Districts and Tehsils of India closer to administration.

» The ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ 2022 campaign during the Good Governance Week created a National Movement for good governance in furtherance of the initiative towards a citizen-centric approach of governance.

PM extended best wishes for the success of the Second “Sushasan Saptah” (Good Governance Week).
    • The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in a message said that guided by the principle of ‘Citizen-First’, our Government is striving tirelessly to make the ecosystem transparent and faster by simplifying procedures and processes at every level.

Ayushmann Bharath Digital Mission (ABDM) services of AIIMS Bibinagar

⇒ The Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the Ayushmann Bharath Digital Mission (ABDM) services of AIIMS Bibinagar on 18 December 2022.

About ABDM:
    • ABDM is the initiative started by the Government to digitalise health records across the country.
    • It includes QR code-based patient registration, Health Management Information System (HMIS) a software to manage data in any Hospital including many digital services like patient registration, patient Que management, Lab information system, Doctors desk, OP Billing etc.

Dr. Mandaviya said that with the help of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card, patients can access their medical records anywhere, anytime without losing them all over India. This would enhance accessibility to their health records on the palm of their hands.

⇒ Indian-origin Leo Varadkar assumed office as Taoiseach of Ireland for the second time on 17 December 2022. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Ireland.

    • Leo Eric Varadkar is an Irish politician who previously served as Taoiseach from 2017 to 2020.

India jumps from 7th to 3rd Global Ranking in Scientific Publications

⇒ India has jumped from 7th to 3rd global ranking in scientific publications.

This was disclosed by Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh after a review with Union Secretary Department of Science & Technology (DST) Dr S. Chandrasekhar on 18 December 2022.

Key Points:
    • As per the National Science Foundation (NSF)’s Science & Engineering Indicators 2022 report of the United States, India’s position globally in scientific publications, has improved from 7th position in 2010 to 3rd position in 2020.
    • India’s scholarly output increased from 60,555 papers in 2010 to 1,49,213 papers in 2020.

» Dr Jitendra Singh also took pride that India now ranks 3rd in terms of number of PhDs in science and engineering.

    • He was also apprised of the fact that the number of patents granted to Indian scientists at India Patent Office (IPO) during the last three years has also increased from 2511 in 2018-19 to 4003 in 2019-20 and 5629 in 2020-21.
