PM to dedicate and lay foundation stone of projects in Gwalior

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various development projects worth around Rs 19,260 crores in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on 02 October 2023.

Various development projects:

» In yet another initiative to boost connectivity across the country, the Prime Minister dedicated to the nation the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, which has been developed at a cost of about Rs 11,895 crores.

» He also laid the foundation stone for five different road projects worth over Rs 1880 crores.

» Ensuring that everyone has a house of one’s own has been the constant endeavour of the Prime Minister. In line with this vision, Grih Pravesh of over 2.2 lakh houses built under PMAY – Gramin were initiated by the Prime Minister.

    • He also dedicated houses constructed under PMAY – Urban at a cost of around Rs 140 crores.

» One of the key focus areas of the government is to provide safe and adequate drinking water. Furthering this aim, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Jal Jeevan Mission projects worth over Rs 1530 crores in Gwalior and Sheopur districts.

    • These projects will together benefit over 720 villages in the region.

» In a step that will further boost the health infrastructure, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of nine health centers under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

    • They will be developed at a cost of over Rs 150 crores.

» The Prime Minister dedicated the academic building of IIT Indore and laid the foundation stone for hostel and other buildings on the campus.

» Further, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Indore.

» He also dedicated various projects inducing Integrated Industrial Township in Ujjain, the IOCL bottling plant, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Divyang Sports Training Centre at Gwalior, among others.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Training Centre for Disability Sports at Gwalior:

» The Prime Minister dedicated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Training Centre for Disability Sports to the nation on 02 October.

Key Points:

» The Atal Bihari Training Centre for Disability Sports is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to training and nurturing athletes with disabilities. It houses world-class infrastructure and coaching staff to provide the best possible training environment for differently-abled athletes.

    • It is an Autonomous body established by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India.
    • The Centre is registered as a society under the M.P Societies Registration Act, 1973 dated: 22.09.2021, with authorities being Governing Body & Executive committee supervising the activities of the Centre.
    • The cabinet has approved a budget of 151.16 cores, at an area of 34 acres, for setup of the Centre.
The Centre functions with the following Aims and Objectives:
    • To establish a state-of-the-art international level Centre of Excellence for sports for para sportspersons (PwDs) with fully accessibility as per norms.
    • To create specialized sports infrastructure so that the para sports persons can undergo rigorous and specialized training in the Centre.
    • To provide training facilities for Divyang sportspersons at par with the latest such facilities available elsewhere in the world.
    • To ensure participation of Divyangjan in sports activities in greater numbers and enable them to effectively compete in international events.
    • To help build confidence and develop a sense of belonging in Divyangjan to facilitate their integration in Society.
PM lays foundation stone and dedicates to nation various development projects in Chittorgarh

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various development projects worth about Rs 7,000 crore in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

The projects include the Mehsana – Bhatinda – Gurdaspur Gas Pipeline, the LPG Plant of HPCL at Abu Road, additional storage at the Ajmer Bottling Plant, IOCL, Railway and Road projects, tourism facilities at Nathdwara and the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kota.

Various development projects:

» In yet another step to promote a gas-based economy, the Mehsana – Bhatinda – Gurdaspur Gas Pipeline was dedicated by the Prime Minister.

    • The pipeline has been built at a cost of about Rs 4500 crores.

» The Prime Minister also dedicated the LPG Plant of HPCL at Abu Road.

    • This plant will bottle and distribute 86 lakh cylinders per annum and will also result in a net reduction in the running of trucks carrying cylinders per annum by around 0.75 million Km, which will help reduce about 0.5 million tons of CO2 emission per annum.

» He also dedicated additional storage at Ajmer Bottling Plant, IOCL.

» The Prime Minister dedicated a 4-lane road on NH-12 (New NH-52) on the Darah-Jhalawar-Teendhar section, which has been constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1480 crores.

    • This project will help ease the transportation of the produce of mines from Kota and Jhalawar districts.

» Further, the foundation stone for constructing and widening the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) from two-lane to four-lane in Sawai Madhopur also laid.

» The railway projects dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister include the projects involving the doubling of the Chittorgarh – Neemuch Railway line and Kota – Chittorgarh Electrified Railway line.

    • These projects have been completed at a cost of more than Rs 650 crores and will strengthen rail infrastructure in the region.

» The Prime Minister dedicated tourism facilities developed at Nathdwara under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.

    • Nathdwara is the major center of faith for millions of followers of the Pushtimarg propagated by Saint Vallabhacharya.
    • A modern ‘tourist interpretation and cultural center’ has been developed at Nathdwara, where tourists can experience various facets of the life of Shrinathji.

» Further, the Prime Minister also dedicated the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kota to the nation.

International

8th President of Maldives

⇒ Under Article 114 of the Constitution of Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu was sworn in as the 8th President of the Republic of Maldives.

    • Mohamed Muizzu was sworn in as the President of Maldives at a ceremony held at Republic Square in the capital Male on 17 November 2023.
    • Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also took an oath of office. Their oath was administered by Chief Justice of the Maldives, Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.
    • Union Minister for Earth Sciences, GoI, Shri Kiren Rijiju attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Dr. Muizzu had defeated outgoing President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the runoff elections held in September. Mohamed Muizzu was elected with a majority of 54.05%, defeating then-president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

7th Annual Day of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI)

⇒ The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) celebrated its 7th Annual Day on 01 October 2023.

The 7th Annual Day of IBBI was an occasion to reflect on the achievements and contributions made in the field of insolvency and bankruptcy over the years.

About IBBI:
    • The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India was established on 1st October, 2016 under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code).
    • It is a key pillar of the ecosystem responsible for implementation of the Code that consolidates and amends the laws relating to reorganization and insolvency resolution of corporate persons, partnership firms and individuals in a time bound manner for maximization of the value of assets of such persons, to promote entrepreneurship, availability of credit and balance the interests of all the stakeholders.
    • It is a unique regulator: regulates a profession as well as processes.
    • It has regulatory oversight over the Insolvency Professionals, Insolvency Professional Agencies, Insolvency Professional Entities and Information Utilities.
    • It writes and enforces rules for processes, namely, corporate insolvency resolution, corporate liquidation, individual insolvency resolution and individual bankruptcy under the Code.
