Book Title '9 Incredible Years of Haryana Government: Emergence Of A New And Vibrant Haryana'
⇒ Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar released a book titled “9 Incredible Years of Haryana Government: Emergence of a New and Vibrant Haryana” at Surajkund, Faridabad on 03 February 2024.
- The book highlights the achievements of the state government in the last nine years. The book has been published in Hindi and English languages.
Appointment of Chief Justices of 6 High Courts
⇒ The President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu has appointed the following Judges of High Courts as Chief Justices of High Courts, with effect from the date they assume charges of their respective office in the concerned High Court:
- In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President of India appoints the Chief Justice of the High Court.
Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court:
» Manindra Mohan Shrivastava Acting Chief Justice, Rajasthan High Court (PHC: Chhattisgarh) has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
- Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava took oath as the new Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on 06 February 2024.
- Governor Kalraj Mishra administered the oath of office to Justice Shrivastava as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
- Shrivastava was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court in November last year.
Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court:
» Kumari Justice Ritu Bahri, Acting Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
- Justice Ritu Bahri was sworn-in as the new Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court by Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan on 04 February 2024.
- Justice Ritu Bahri became the first woman Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

- Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court by Governor Raghubar Das at a brief ceremony at the High Court premises on 07 February 2024.
- Justice Singh is the 34th Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) - Commonwealth Attorneys and Solicitors General Conference (CASGC) 2024
⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) – Commonwealth Attorneys and Solicitors General Conference (CASGC) 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 03 Februray 2024.
Theme:
The theme of the conference was “Cross-Border Challenges in Justice Delivery”
Participation:
The conference was attended by Attorney Generals and Solicitors from the Commonwealth nations spanning the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Caribbean along with various international delegations.
Highlights:
- The conference deliberated on important issues pertaining to law and justice like judicial transition and the ethical dimensions of legal practice; executive accountability; and revisiting modern-day legal education, among others.
- The conference served as a unique platform by offering a forum for interaction among different stakeholders in the Commonwealth legal fraternity.
- It also included an exclusive round table conference tailored for Attorneys and Solicitors general aiming to develop a comprehensive roadmap to address the challenges in legal education and transnational justice delivery.
Death
Veteran actor-director, writer and producer Shri Sadhu Meher
⇒ Stalwart of Hindi and Odia cinema Shri Sadhu Meher passed away on 02 February 2024 in Mumbai. He was 84.
About Sadhu Meher:
- Sadhu Meher made his debut in the Hindi industry with Mrinal Sen’s Bhuvan Shome (1969), in which he played a junior railway officer. Along with Hindi films, he also made his mark in the Odia film industry.
- In 1974, Meher won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Shyam Benegal’s debut film Ankur (The Seedling).
- For his contribution to cinema, Meher was honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, in 2017.
- He was awarded the Jaydev Samman by the Odisha government in 2011.
