Election Commission of India celebrated 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) on 25th January 2025.
Theme of 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) 2025:
» Dedicated to the voters, 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) 2025 theme – “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure” is a continuation of last year’s theme.
- The theme emphasizing the importance of participation in the electoral process, and encouraging voters to take pride in exercising their franchise.

15th National Voters’ Day Celebration:
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu addressed the 15th National Voters’ Day Celebrations in New Delhi on January 25, 2025.
» On this occasion, Smt Murmu also received the first copy of the book “India Votes 2024: A Saga of Democracy” from the Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Rajiv Kumar.
- The publication is a tribute to every voter, election official, security personnel and all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
» Furthermore, a copy of the ECI publication, “Belief in the Ballot: Human Stories Shaping India’s 2024 Elections” was also presented to the President by CEC Rajiv Kumar.
- This book features a thoughtfully curated collection of human-interest stories that highlight the uniqueness of these elections.
Best Electoral Practices Awards 2024-25:
» President Smt Droupadi Murmu presented the Best Electoral Practices Awards 2024-25 to the State and District officials who have demonstrated exemplary performance in ensuring smooth conduct of elections, on the occasion of 15th National Voters’ Day 2025.
- The awards recognize exceptional contributions across multiple categories in election management for the 2024 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections held in 2024.
- The President presented Best Electoral Practices Awards to 22 recipients for their outstanding contribution in election management, security management, voter education and inclusivity.

» Best Performing State Award was given to CEOs of Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.
» The President conferred the Best Electoral Practices Award 2024-25 in best Government department for Voter education & electoral participation on Indian Railways. The award was received by the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, Shri Satish Kumar.
- Indian Railways has been honored with this award for making the best use of its infrastructure and partnering with the Election Commission of India to enhance voter awareness across the country.
- This recognition highlights Indian Railways’ crucial role in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, where it significantly contributed to voter awareness and logistical support.
» Additionally, Government Departments like NIC, Railways, and Petroleum Ministry were lauded for voter awareness and logistical support.

About National Voters’ Day (NVD):
» Since 2011, the National Voters’ Day (NVD) has been celebrated on January 25 every year to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. The Election Commission of India (ECI) was established on this day in the year 1950.
- The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate, and maximize voter enrolment, especially the new voters.
- Dedicated to the country’s voters, the Day is celebrated to spread awareness among them to promote informed participation in the electoral process.
- NVD is celebrated at the national, state, district, constituency, and polling booth levels, which makes it one of the largest celebrations in the country.
