2022 Winter Olympics

The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially called the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022 were held between 4 and 20 February 2022 in Beijing, China.

The Olympics Games featured a record 109 events across 15 disciplines in 7 sports.

In this big air freestyle skiing and women’s monobob made their Olympic debuts as medal events.

However, India had announced the diplomatic boycott of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics over the Galwan row.

India’s chargé d’affaires at the Beijing Embassy did not attend the opening or closing ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. India had sent one of its athletes Arif Khan (Alpine Skier) to participate in the event.

Reason: Qi Fabao, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) regiment commander involved in the June 15, 2020 clash with India in Galwan Valley, was chosen by China to carry the Winter Olympic torch in Beijing.
