The 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2022) concluded on December 16, 2022 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Over 184 movies from different countries were screened at the 27th edition of IFFK.

The 27th edition of IFFK was organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Kerala.

27th International Film Festival of Kerala Lifetime Achievement Award:

The Hungarian filmmaker Bela Tarr was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 which was presented by Kerala’s Minister for Culture VN Vasavan. Surprisingly, it was the first visit of Bela Tarr to the ‘God’s own country’, Kerala.

  • FFSI KR Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director from India: Siddharth Chauhan for AMAR COLONY
  • NETPAC Award for the Best Malayalam Film: ARIYIPPU directed by Mahesh Narayanan
  • FIPRESCI Award for Best Malayalam Film: 19(1)(a) directed by Indhu VS
  • FIPRESCI Award for Best International Film: Eikhoigi Yum by Romi Meitei Mayanglambam
  • NETPAC Award for the Best Asian Film: ALAM directed by Firas Khoury
  • Audience Poll Award: Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery
  • Lifetime Achievement Award 2022: Bela Tarr
  • FFSI KR Mohanan Award – Certificate of Merit: Ek Jagah Apni by Ektara Collective
  • NETPAC Special Jury Mention: Eikhoigi Yum by Romi Meitei Mayanglambam
  • Special mention: Manisha Soni and Muskan (lead actors) for Ek Jagah Apni by Ektara Collective
Background:

» The 26th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2021) was held from 18 to 25 March 2022.

» The first IFFK was held in Kozhikode in 1996.

» Golden Crow Pheasant (Suvarna Chakoram) for the Best Film and Silver Crow Pheasant (Rajata Chakoram) for Best Director, Best Debut Director, Audience Prize in the International competition section and NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Awards for the Best Asian Film and Best Malayalam film, FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique) awards for the Best Film and Best Malayalam Film of a Debut Director, FFSI KR Mohanan Award for the Best Indian Debut Director are the accolades given in the festival.

» Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed upon a filmmaker who made significant contributions to the art of cinema during his career.
