The 77th annual Venice International Film Festival 2020 was held from 2 to 12 September 2020.
Nomadland, directed by Chloe Zhao won Golden Lion for best film at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. Director Chloe Zhao became the first woman to win the Golden Lion in a decade.
Filmmaker Chaitanya Tamhane’s “The Disciple” won the Best Screenplay award at Venice International Film Festival 2020 during the closing ceremony held on 12 Sep 2020. It also bagged the prestigious International Critics Prize awarded by FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) at 2020 Venice Film Festival.
In special award, Ann Hui and Tilda Swinton were awarded with Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award.
