National:
  • The 13th edition of Aero India-21 will be held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka from 3rd to 07th February 2021. Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh launched the Aero India 2021 website (aeroindia.gov.in) at New Delhi on 11 Sep 2020. Business and other visitors will be able to buy their tickets online on the website for visiting Asia’s largest aeroshow.
  • The two-day Virtual Conference and Exhibition for the Bitumen and Road Construction – “BITU-CON 2020“, organized by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), on 10 Sep 2020. Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and MSME Shri Nitin Gadkari addressed & said that the policy of the government is to ensure reduction in road construction costs and improve its quality.
  • Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) Shri Mansukh Mandaviya launched “SAROD-Ports” (Society for Affordable Redressal of Disputes – Ports) through virtual ceremony on 10 Sep 2020 in New Delhi. SAROD-Ports consists members from Indian Ports Association and Indian Private Ports and Terminals Association. SAROD-Ports will advise and assist in settlement of disputes through arbitrations in the maritime sector, including ports and shipping sector in Major Port Trusts, Non-major Ports, including private ports, jetties, terminals and harbours.
Appointments:
  • Three new Indian Administrative Service officers are appointed in Prime Minister’s Office on 12 Sep 2020.
    Raghuraj Rajendran (Madhya Pradesh cadre 2004 batch) appointed as Director.
    Amrapali Kata (Andhra Pradesh cadre 2010 batch) appointed as Deputy Secretary.
    Mangesh Ghildiyal (Uttarakhand cadre 2012 batch) appointed as Under Secretary.
International:
  • India and Japan signed an Agreement between the two countries concerning Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between the Armed Forces of India and The Self-Defense Forces of Japan on 09 Sep 2020. The agreement will also enhance the interoperability between the Armed Force of India and Japan.

 The 77th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 2 to 12 September 2020.

Sports:
  • Japan’s Naomi Osaka beat Victoria Azarenka of Belarus to win the US Open on 12 Sep 2020 and clinch her third Grand Slam title.
  • 29 years old Ali Khan will be the first player from the USA to feature in the IPL 2020. Kolkata Knight Riders all set to feature in fast bowler Ali Khan as a replacement for seamer Harry Gurney.
  • Telecom Company Vodafone Idea recently rebranded itself as “Vi”. “Vi” will be the co-sponsorship of the live broadcast of IPL 2020 alongsides Dream11 is the Title sponsor of IPL 2020. IPL 2020 will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Death:
  • Former Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh died due to post-Covid complications in AIIMS Delhi on 13 Sep 2020. He was 74.
  • Senior Tamil journalist Sudhangan died due to illness on 12 Sep 2020. He was 63.
