Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report:
  • Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), a statutory authority under Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, has released on 21 January 2021 the “Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report” for the Quarter ending 30th September, 2020.

Webinar on ‘Gandhi and Cities’:
  • IIT Madras hosted a webinar on ‘Gandhi and Cities’ on Republic Day i.e. on 26th January 2021.

Padma awardee Dr. Sunita Narain, Director-General, Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi addressed the webinar on the topic of ‘Gandhi and Cities: Challenges of Affordable and Sustainable Growth’.

This webinar was the part of the SIDDHI webinar series which has a Gandhian theme.

14th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) 2021:
  • The 14th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) 2021 will be held virtually from February 19 to 28 February, 2021. It will embrace a paradigm shift with specially curated virtual experiences.

Jaipur Literature Festival is an initiative of “JAIPUR VIRASAT FOUNDATION”.

Jaipur BookMark 2021:

The eighth edition of Jaipur BookMark (JBM), the B2B arm of the Festival, will be held from 22nd to 25th February, 2021.

Two major awards will be announced at the Jaipur BookMark 2021:

  • Vani Foundation Distinguished Translator Award
  • The Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize

International:

2021 Michael and Sheila Held Prize:
  • Nikhil Srivastava, a young Indian mathematician, has been named winner of the prestigious 2021 Michael and Sheila Held Prize along with two others.

They got the prize for solving long-standing questions on the Kadison-Singer problem and on Ramanujan graphs.

2021 Michael and Sheila Held Prize will be received by the following persons:

Nikhil Srivastava, from the University of California, Berkeley

Adam Marcus, the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL)

Daniel Alan Spielman from Yale University

Death:
  • US television host Larry King was died on 23 January 2021 in Los Angeles. He was 87.
