The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 was held from 30 September to 2 November 2025. It was the 13th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Host Nation:

India and Sri Lanka hosted the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup.

  • The World Cup matches were played in Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka.
  • This was the fourth time India hosted the World Cup after 1978, 1997 and 2013.
The participating teams were:

Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka

  • This was the last time the tournament had eight teams.
Mascot:

‘Blaze’ and ‘Tonk’ were the official mascots of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

  • ‘Blaze’ is a female mascot, bowling at rapid pace, leaving batters in sheer awe.
  • ‘Tonk’ is a male mascot, with icy-cool composure, making him a batting champion.

Final Match:

The final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 was played between India and South Africa on 2 November 2025 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to win the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup for the first time.

India scored 298 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs while South Africa scored 246 runs for the loss of all wickets in 45.3 overs.

  • Player of the Series– Deepti Sharma (India)
  • Most Runs– Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) (571 runs)
  • Most Wickets– Deepti Sharma (India) (22 wickets)

About Women’s Cricket World Cup:
  • The Women’s Cricket World Cup is the quadrennial international championship of the One Day International format with 50 overs per team.
  • It is organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
  • The first World Cup was held in England in 1973.
  • From the year 2000, the number of teams in the World Cup was fixed at eight. The tournament will feature 10 teams from the 2029 edition.
  • Australia has won the most titles with 7. England has won a total of 4 titles and New Zealand has won a total of 1 title.
