National:
  • Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted, Bihar has got its first Ramsar site. Kabartal in Bihar’s Begusarai district has been recognised as a wetland of international importance. It is an important wetland of the Central Asian Flyway for the population of migratory birds & biodiversity. With this now India has 39 Ramsar sites”.
  • Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology, and Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge) inaugurated the 360 degree video-immersive experience in circular dome and Digital Exhibits on Mahatma Gandhi, on 06 November 2020. It has been installed at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, in New Delhi. The 360º dome project has been implemented by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
Gov Tech-Thon 2020:
  • A 36 hours Gov-Tech-Thon 2020 pan-India virtual hackathon organized by IEEE, National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Oracle, under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, successfully concluded on November 1, 2020.
    More than 1300 talented people from different parts of India gathered at Gov Tech-thon 2020 to solve grassroots problems.
    Gov Tech-Thon 2020 winners has been announced:
    First place: ‘Fit For Future’ team from Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Private Limited, for demonstrating an innovative solution prototype for automating vehicle fitness checks
    Second place: ‘Hack Demons’ from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara, for providing secure solution for delivering unsupervised tests remotely
    Third place: ‘Orange’ team from PES University Bengaluru, for providing a unique solution for seed certification using Block Chain technology
Set up & Appointment:
  • On 12th November 2020, the conglomerate of Kashmir’s religious preachers, J&K Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), set up a Jammu & Kashmir ‘halal’ food certification board. Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been nominated as its head.
International Sports:
  • Chinese player ‘Chen Meng’ has won ‘Dishang 2020 ITTF Women’s World Cup’ on 10 November 2020. Dishang 2020 ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) Women’s World Cup was held from 08 to 10 November in Weihai, China.
  • On 12 November 2020, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said, former captain Younis Khan will continue as the men’s batting coach of Pakistan until the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022. The T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in Australia. Pakistan Cricket Board has also appointed former Test spinner Arshad Khan as Pakistan women’s national cricket team’s bowling coach for one year.
Important Day:
  • Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November. This day marks the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I.
Death:
  • Actor Asif Basra has died, on November 12, 2020. He was 53. He was found dead in a private complex in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. He was starred in web series Paatal Lok and film Kai Po Che etc.
  • BJP MLA from Salt in Almora district, Surendra Singh Jeena died on the morning of November 12, 2020. He was 50. He was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a hospital in New Delhi.
