Directorate General National Cadet Corps Mobile Training App Version 2.0

⇒ Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar launched Directorate General National Cadet Corps Mobile Training App Version 2.0 in New Delhi on May 28, 2021.

Aim & Use:

The app will assist in conducting countrywide online training to NCC cadets during the COVID-19 pandemic conditions.

It is aimed at providing NCC-related basic information and entire training material (Syllabus, Précis, Training Videos, Frequently Asked Questions) on one platform.

It provides the NCC cadets easy access to training material and assists in carrying out training during the pandemic.

Autobiography of Neena Gupta

⇒ An autobiography of Neena Gupta titled ‘Sach Kahun Toh’ has been released on June 14, 2021. The book is published by Penguin Random House India. The book is sharing the actor’s life story in the most unapologetically honest manner, with issues like casting couch, film industry politics, etc.

Services e-Health Assistance & Tele-consultation (SeHAT) OPD Portal

⇒ Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh launched ‘Services e-Health Assistance & Tele-consultation (SeHAT) OPD portal on May 27, 2021. The portal provides tele-medicine services to the serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families. This is the final version of the SeHAT OPD portal with advanced safety features.

International Eni Award 2020

⇒ Bharat Ratna Professor C.N.R. Rao has received the International Eni Award 2020 for research into renewable energy sources and energy storage. The International Eni Award is also called the Energy Frontier award. It is considered to be the Nobel Prize in Energy Research.

The Energy Frontiers award has been conferred for his work on metal oxides, carbon nanotubes, and other materials and two-dimensional systems, including graphene, boron-nitrogen-carbon hybrid materials, and molybdenum sulfide for energy applications and green hydrogen production.

The Eni Awards 2020 will be presented on 14 October 2021, during an official ceremony held at the Quirinal Palace in Rome. The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

Fourth BRICS Working Group Meeting

⇒ The fourth BRICS Working Group meeting on the emerging issues in the various fields of Biotechnology and Biomedicine was organized from May 25 to May 26 2021.

Participants:

More than 60 participants, including researchers, academicians, and government officials participated from all five BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Discussion:

The members of the working group on Biotechnology and Biomedicine suggested future directions of research collaboration among BRICS countries. The directions of research was suggested in the areas such as Antimicrobial Resistance, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health Medicine, Non-Communicable Diseases, Neurological Disorders, Cancer, long Post-Covid Challenges and Complications including Molecular Pathogenesis of Corona virus, etc.

The meeting was sponsored by, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, China and was organized by the China National Center for Biotechnology Development.

ABOUT:

This meeting is part of BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Calendar of Activities 2020-21 adopted by all BRICS countries. India has assumed the BRICS Presidency from January 2021.

Six sites added to India’s Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites

⇒ Recently, Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said that Six sites have been added to India’s tentative list of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) world heritage sites.

Six Sites:

These six sites include the Ganga ghats in Varanasi, temples of Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu and the Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, Megalithic site of Hire Benkal, Maratha Military Architecture in Maharashtra, & Bhedaghat-Lametaghat in Narmada Valley- Jabalpur.

2021 edition of the Asia Cup

⇒ The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that 2021 edition of the Asia Cup will now be held in 2023. There has been no Asia Cup since 2018. India has won the last two editions of the tournament.
