New ‘Ministry of Co-operation’ created

⇒ The Union government created a new separate ‘Ministry of Co-operation’ on 06 July 2021. The Modi Government has created this ministry for realizing the vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’.

This ministry will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.

The Ministry will work to streamline processes for ‘Ease of doing business’ for co-operatives and enable development of Multi-State Co-operatives (MSCS). It will help deepen Co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching upto the grassroots.

Online Course Mobile App “Matsya Setu”

⇒ Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Giriraj Singh, on 06 July 2021 launched the Online Course Mobile App “Matsya Setu”.

The app was developed by the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, with the funding support of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad. 

Aim:

The online course app aims to disseminate the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies to the aqua farmers of the country.

Significance:

Matsya Setu app has species-wise/ subject-wise self-learning online course modules, where renowned aquaculture experts explain the basic concepts and practical demonstrations on breeding, seed production and grow-out culture of commercially important fishes like carp, catfish, scampi, murrel, ornamental fish, pearl farming etc.

'Brand Ambassador' of Khadi Prakritk Paint

⇒ The Minister for Road Transport and Highways & MSME, Shri Nitin Gadkari declared himself the “Brand Ambassador ” of Khadi Prakritk Paint. The minister said, he will promote it across the country so as to encourage young entrepreneurs to take up the manufacturing of cow dung paint.

Inauguration of Khadi Prakritik Paint manufacturing unit:

The minister virtually inaugurated the new automated manufacturing unit of Khadi Prakritik Paint, India’s first and only paint made from cow dung, in Jaipur, on 06 July 2021.

The new plant has been set up on the campus of Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute (KNHPI), Jaipur, which is a unit of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). At present the daily production of Prakritik Paint is 500 liters which will go up to 1000 liters per day.

About Khadi Prakritik Paint:

Khadi Prakritik Paint was launched by Shri Gadkari on 12th January 2021. Khadi Prakritik Paint is available in two variants- Distemper and Emulsion.

Khadi Prakritik Paint contains “AshtaLaabh”; i.e. the eight benefits like anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and natural thermal insulation properties. This paint is eco-friendly, non-toxic, odorless and cost-effective.

National Film Archive of India new collection

⇒ National Film Archive of India (NFAI) has announced a significant addition of the original camera negative of Rajkumar Hirani’s film PK (2014) in its collection.

Dakshina S N cruised into India Book of Records

⇒ Dakshina S N, a 9 year-old Class 4 student from Tirur, has been cruised into the India Book of Records for doing the most number of paintings using oil pastels. She has done thousands of paintings in various mediums.

Mithali Raj became the top run-getter in international cricket across all formats

⇒ Indian women’s cricket team skipper Mithali Raj became the top run-getter in international cricket across all formats, surpassing former England batter Charlotte Edwards, on 03 July 2021.

Mithali achieved the feat during the third and final inconsequential ODI against hosts England while chasing 220 for a consolation win.

Mithali’s Score:

Mithali now became the world’s most prolific batter in women’s internationals, overtaking Edwards’ 10,273 runs. The bulk of Mithali’s runs have come in ODI cricket in which she has collected over 7,200 runs. She has scored 669 runs in Test cricket and 2,364 in T20 International cricket.

Second international cricketer to complete 22 years in ODI cricket:

On June 26, Mithali, who was playing her 217th One-day International at Worcester, had become only the second international cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to complete 22 years in ODI cricket.

World Zoonoses Day

⇒ World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on July 6.

The day is observed to commemorate the first vaccination administered against a zoonotic disease like Ebola, Avian influenza, and West Nile virus. The first vaccination against a zoonotic disease was successfully administered on July 6, 1885, by a French biologist, Louis Pasteur.

Zoonosis is an infectious disease that spread from non-human animals to humans.

Webinar on World Zoonoses Day – 2021:

The ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, Bengaluru, Karnataka in collaboration with the “National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Diseases” under the aegis of the National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi organized a Webinar.

The Webinar was organized to create awareness on prevention and control of Zoonotic Diseases among the different stakeholders. The Webinar was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
