National Red Cross Gold Medal

⇒ The prestigious National Red Cross Gold Medal was presented by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nizamabad unit chief Dr Neeli Ramchander on 14 July 2021.

At a programme organised at Raj Bhavan, Dr. Ramchander received the Gold Medal awarded to the Nizamabad unit for the year 2017-18 for best services.

The prestigious National Red Cross Gold Medal is awarded annually by the President. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the award ceremony was deferred in New Delhi and held locally.

Autobiography titled 'The Stranger In The Mirror'

⇒ Filmmaker, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s autobiography titled ‘The Stranger In The Mirror’ has been released nationwide on July 27, 2021.

The book is co-written by author Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta and published by Rupa Publications.

Ad maker-turned-director Omprakash is known for helming movies such as ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Delhi-6’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ and the recently released ‘Toofan’.

Acquisition of TERA Finlabs

⇒ The country’s leading full stack financial solutions company, Razorpay, on 19 July 2021 announced its acquisition of TERA Finlabs, an AI-based risk tech SaaS Platform, for an undisclosed amount.

TERA Finlabs is a Bengaluru-based startup that provides technology, risk and capital solutions to enable innovative embedded financing solutions for businesses.

Two-day bilateral Passage Exercise

⇒ Indian Navy participated in a two-day bilateral Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Navy Carrier Strike Group (CSG)-21 led by HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Bay of Bengal from 21 to 22 July 2021.

The bilateral Maritime Exercise was designed to hone the ability of the two navies to operate together in the maritime domain.

The maiden exercise between Indian Navy and the Royal Navy’s latest Aircraft Carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth included participation of CSG-21 comprising Type 23 Frigates and an Astute-class submarine in addition to the other surface combatants.

Indian Navy was represented by IN Ships Satpura, Ranvir, Jyoti, Kavaratti, Kulish and a submarine. The exercise also witnessed the maiden participation of the F 35 B Lightning which operate from the deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth.

World's first 3D printed steel bridge

⇒ Amsterdam has installed the world’s first 3D printed steel bridge for the public. The bridge was installed over the Oudezijds Achterburgwal canal in Amsterdam’s Red Light District and was unveiled July 15.

The bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists. It was created by the Imperial College London and took more than four years to build.

The bridge, almost-40-foot structure, weighs 4.9 tons. The bridge was built using four industrial robots and took about six months of printing. It was developed by MX3D, a Dutch robotics company, in collaboration with a consortium of experts.

G20 Environment Ministerial Meeting

⇒ The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav attended the G20 Environment Ministerial Meeting, which was held virtually on 22 July 2021 in Naples, Italy.

Union Minister, Shri Bhupender Yadav said India is committed to work with the G20 countries for a better world leaving no one behind. At the same time, India stands together in solidarity with the global community in mounting a strong and effective response that secures the health of the planet and its people.

Leading the Indian delegation at the G20 Environment Ministerial, the Environment Minister underscored the need for a collective global action to tide over the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, and that the Developing Countries need every possible support more than ever before.

Basque Culinary World Prize 2021

⇒ Spanish chef Xanty Elías has won the Basque Culinary World Prize 2021.

Spanish chef won the prize for his initiative “Los Niños se Comen El Futuro”, which works to educate the next generation about healthy eating.

The 6th edition of Basque Culinary World Prize highlighted the healing capacity of gastronomy amid the devastating effects of the pandemic in 2020.
