Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award for National Integration and Contribution

⇒ Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has conferred Assam Government’s biennial ‘Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award for National Integration and Contribution’ to the three recipients at a function in Guwahati on 03 October 2021.

Three Award Winners:
    1. Assam branch of Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust
    2. German based Assamese litterateur Dr. Nirod Kumar Barooah
    3. Shillong Chamber Choir at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra
About Award:
  • The award carries five lakh rupees each, a citation and an angavastram.
  • The Gopinath Bordoloi Award is named after the first chief minister of Assam after independence and He was a freedom fighter. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1999 posthumously.

Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage-cum-Cultural Centre

⇒ The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Guwahati on October 03, 2021 on a tour of the North East.

During the visit, the Vice President inaugurated the ‘Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage-cum-Cultural Centre’ on the bank of river Brahmaputra in Guwahati.

Kadhenu Deepawali 2021 campaign

⇒ Kadhenu Deepawali 2021 campaign was launched to manufacture and market more than 100 Crore Cow dung based Deepak lamps and Laxmi-Ganesh Idols.

This included Deepawali items too like – Deepak, Lamps, Candles, Sambrani cup, Havansamagri, Dhoopbatti, incense sticks, Hard board, Wall piece, Laxmi-Ganesh idols etc made up of Cow dung.

Kamdhenu Deepawali is to make Cows to be economically useful by proper economic use of Cow Dung and Cow Urine too along with its Milks, Curd, Ghee. More than 300 items are getting made now by Panchgavya from Cow.

ICMR’s Drone Response and Outreach in North East (i-Drone)

⇒ Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched ICMR’s Drone Response and Outreach in North East (i-Drone). This is a delivery model to make sure that life-saving vaccines reach everyone.

i-Drone, for the first time in South Asia, “Make in India’ drone has been used to transport COVID-19 vaccines.

i-Drone has been used to transport COVID vaccine over an aerial distance of 15 kms in 12-15 mins from the Bishnupur district hospital to Loktak lake, Karang island in Manipur for administration at the PHC. The actual road distance between these locations is 26 km.

⇒ Mr. Kishida Fumio is the new Prime Minister of Japan.

TIWB programme in Seychelles

⇒ Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB), a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), launched its programme in Seychelles on 4th October, 2021.

India as Partner Administration:

India was chosen as the Partner Administration and has provided Tax Expert for this programme.

This programme is the sixth TIWB programme which India has supported by providing Tax Expert.

Duration:

This programme is expected to be of 12 months duration.

Aim:

During which India, in collaboration with the TIWB Secretariat and support of the UNDP Country Office in Mauritius and Seychelles, aims to aid Seychelles in strengthening its tax administration by transferring technical know-how and skills to its tax auditors through sharing of best audit practices.

Focus:

The focus of the programme will be on Transfer Pricing cases of tourism and financial services sectors.

Important Day

World Animal Day 2021

⇒ The World Animal Day is celebrated every year on 4 October internationally, on the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Theme:

The theme of World Animal Day 2021 was “Forest and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.”

Significance:

The day is celebrated to educate humans about how their actions impact animals and create awareness about the protection of animals all over the world.

About World Animal Day:

The first celebration of World Animal Day was observed in March 24, 1925. This Day is observed globally to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards.

The celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It’s celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.

Celebrations in India:

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) celebrated World Animal Day 2021 at Kamdhenu Dham Gaushala (Nagar Nigam Gaushala), Gurugram, Haryana.

On this occasion, Shri Parshottam Rupala, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, launched the website of AWBI. This website will benefit the end users of animal welfare.

53rd Foundation Day of ICSI

⇒ The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day on 04 October 2021.

About ICSI:

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a premier national professional body constituted under the Company Secretaries of India Act, 1980 to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries. The headquarter of ICSI is in New Delhi. It was founded on 4 October 1968.
