7th edition of International Conference on Pharma and Medical Devices sector 2022
⇒ Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 7th edition of International Conference on Pharma and Medical Devices sector 2022.
- The annual flagship three-day conference was held on 25-27 April 2022 at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
Theme:
- This year, the theme for India Pharma was ‘India Pharma-Vision 2047: Transformative agenda for future’.
- For India Medical Device, the theme was ‘Transforming Healthcare through Innovation & Integrated Services’.
Discussion:
The planned discussions over a period of 3 days brought new opportunities and ideas to make India a global leader in quality medicines and ensure availability, accessibility and affordability of medicines and medical device in the country.
This year, the Department of Pharmaceuticals has announced six main categories of the India Pharma and India Medical Devices Awards.
- This Award will act as a catalyst to improve the performance and quality of the Pharma and Medical Devices manufactured in the country.

Inauguration of first phase of the 92-MW floating solar power project
⇒ The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has completed the first phase of the 92-MW floating solar power project being set up at its Kayamkulam unit.
- Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty inaugurated the 22-MW project on 20 April 2022.
About Project:
- The work on the Solar PV Power Station was awarded to Tata Power Solar (70 MW) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (22 MW).
- The installation of solar panels to produce 22 MW has been completed.
- The power generated will be sold to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).
- The project is implemented at a cost of ₹465 crore.
- A total of 2.16-lakh solar panels are being mounted on floaters.
- Once fully operational, the Kayamkulam plant will be the second-largest floating solar power project of the NTPC after the 100-MW plant at Ramagundam in Telangana.

Raisina Dialogue 2022
⇒ The 7th Edition of the Raisina Dialogue was inaugurated on 25 April 2022. The Dialogue was held in an in-person format over three days, 25-27 April 2022.
- This year, Raisina Dialogue side-events was hosted in Berlin and Washington D.C.
- The 2022 Edition had over 100 sessions with over 210 speakers from more than 90 countries and multilateral organisations.
» Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Dialogue on 25 April. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, joined the Inaugural Session as Chief Guest.
Theme:
The theme for the 2022 Edition was “Terra Nova: Impassioned, Impatient, and Imperilled”.
Over the course of three days, the Dialogue panel discussed and converse across multiple formats on six thematic pillars:
- Rethinking Democracy: Trade, Tech and Ideology
- End of Multilateralism: A Networked Global Order?
- Water Caucuses: Turbulent Tides in the Indo-Pacific
- Communities Inc.: First Responders to Health, Development, and Planet

About Raisina Dialogue:
- The Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, held annually since 2016.
- It is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
PM, Shri Narendra Modi hold talks with President of European Commission
⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi held talks with President of European Commission, Ursula von der leyen on 25 April 2022 in New Delhi.
Discussion:
» The leaders agreed that as large and vibrant democratic societies, India and Europe share similar values and a commonality of perspectives on many global issues.
» They reviewed the progress in the India-EU Strategic Partnership.
- It was agreed to institute a high-level Trade & Technology Commission to provide political-level oversight of all aspects of the India-EU relationship, and to ensure coordination between different areas of cooperation.
» The leaders had an extensive discussion on climate related issues, including on possibilities of collaboration between India and the EU in areas like Green Hydrogen.
- They also discussed the continuing challenges of COVID-19 and stressed efforts to ensure equitable access to vaccines and therapeutics to all parts of the world.
» In addition, several geo-political issues of topical importance were discussed during the meeting, including the situation in Ukraine and developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
