⇒ The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind has appointed or transferred eight new Governors of States/UTs. The appointments of Governors will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
⇒ Narendra Modi Government Cabinet has been reshuffled & expanded on July 7, 2021. The total strength of members of the Council of Ministers is now 78, including the Prime Minister.
In the new cabinet list, seven ministers of state have been promoted & 36 new ministers have been inducted into the Government.
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 43 members of the Council of Ministers at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, on 07 July 2021.
⇒ The 47th G7 Summit was held in Cornwall, England from June 11 to June 13, 2021. The G7 (Group of Seven) is an organisation of seven countries include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the United States.
The theme for the G7 Summit was ‘Build Back Better’.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the Outreach sessions of the G7 Summit held in virtual format on 12 and 13 June, 2021 at the invitation of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
⇒ India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the joint 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifying match in Doha, on 07 June 2021.
Sunil Chhetri, who helped India register a first win in the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers with two goals over Bangladesh in Doha.
With this win, Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri overtook Argentina’s Lionel Messi to become the second-highest active international goalscorer with 74 goals. Chhetri is only behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (103) in the active international goalscorer list.
Chhetri also moved up in the men’s all-time list of international goalscorers and is now on 11th.
⇒Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Uttarakhand assembly Indira Hridayesh died in New Delhi on 13 June 2021. She was 80.
Indira Hridayesh was a Congress MLA from Haldwani. She was the Finance Minister of Uttarakhand from 2012 to 2017 and also held the portfolios of parliamentary affairs and higher education and planning.
