Cov-Tech Ventilation System for PPE Kits

⇒ The student innovator, Nihaal Singh Adarsh from Mumbai has made a Cov-Tech Ventilation System for healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 battle.

The compact and frugal innovation named Cov-Tech is a ventilation system for PPE kits.

This product can be worn around the waist, just like a belt. It can be attached with the conventional PPE kits.

This design serves two purposes:
    1. Keeps the health workers well-ventilated, while preventing bodily discomfort
    2. Keeps them safe from various fungal infections

Export of Shahi Litchi from Bihar to United Kingdom

⇒ The season’s first consignment of Shahi Litchi from Bihar was exported to United Kingdom by air route. The phyto-sanitary certification for exports of Shahi Litchi was issued from newly established certification facility at Patna.

The fruit was exported by Cira Enterprises, & imported by H & J Veg, London. The export of GI certified product, Shahi Litchi will boost the export of Bihar.

India is the second largest producer of litchi (Litchi chin) in the world, after China.

Muzzafarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Champaran, Begusarai districts and adjoining areas of Bihar have favorable climate for growing Shahi Litchi.

Shahi litchi was the fourth agricultural products to get GI certification from Bihar in 2018, afterJardalu mango, Katarni rice and Magahi paan.

China's New Ocean-monitoring Satellite

⇒ China on 19 May 2021 successfully launched a new ocean-monitoring satellite into orbit. The Haiyang-2D (HY-2D) satellite was launched by a Long March-4B rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China.

The HY-2D will form a constellation with the HY-2B and HY-2C satellites. This aims to build an all-weather and round-the-clock dynamic ocean environment monitoring system of high frequency and medium and large scale. It would provide early warning on marine disasters.

The HY-2D satellite was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, and the carrier rocket by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.

⇒ The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards was presented on May 16 and 17, 2021. It was the 29th edition of the awards.

Scarlett Johansson was honored with MTV Generation Award in recognition of her Hollywood career.

Sacha Baron Cohen was feted with special award ‘Comedic Genius Award’ for their contributions to the film industry.

Official Song of UEFA EURO 2020

⇒ The official song of UEFA EURO 2020 ‘We Are The People’ has been released, from Martin Garrix, featuring Bono and The Edge. The official song has been written to celebrate the festivity and football of UEFA EURO 2020.

The one of world football’s biggest events, UEFA EURO 2020 is scheduled from 11 June 2021 to 11 July 2021.

Noted Sanskrit Scholar Pandit Rewa Prasad Dwivedi

⇒ Noted Sanskrit scholar, Poet, Writer, Pandit Rewa Prasad Dwivedi died on 22 May 2021 in Varanasi. He was 86.

Pandit Rewa Prasad was honoured with various national & international awards. In 1991, he was the recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award for Sanskrit. The President of India, Neelam Sanjeev Reddy honored him Certificate of Honour, the highest literary award for lifetime achievement in Sanskrit in the year 1979. He was awarded the Mahamahopadhyaya P. V. Kane Gold Medal in 1983 by the Asiatic Society of Mumbai.

In 2017, The President of India, Ramnath Kovind honored him with Kabir Samman, Highest Literary Honor of Govt of Madhya Pradesh, Ministry of Culture for outstanding contribution to Indian Poetry.

Pandit Reva Prasad wrote three Sanskrit epics containing 13000 Verses. In addition, he also wrote five books and two plays.

Former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Srikumar Banerjee

⇒ Former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Srikumar Banerjee died on 23 May 2021 in Navi Mumbai. He was 75.

Banerjee was also served as the director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for six years till 2010.

He was a recipient of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1989. He was conferred with the Padma Shri award in 2005.
