“MDoNER Data Analytics Dashboard” and “Poorvottar Sampark Setu” Portal

⇒ Minister of State, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri B L Verma launched “MDoNER Data Analytics Dashboard” and “Poorvottar Sampark Setu” Portal at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 12 October 2023.

MDoNER Data Analytics Dashboard:

» “MDoNER Data Analytics Dashboard” has the data of 112 schemes across 55 Departments and Ministries.

MDoNER Data Analytics Dashboard helps in-

    • Data driven decision making
    • Ease of operations
    • Centralized monitoring
    • Policy level decision tool
    • Information integration

It will keep a close watch on NER Aspirational districts, North East border districts and the most backward districts in NER. Creating a benchmark for key performance indicators of schemes in NER, the Dashboard will be equipped with the latest innovations in e-governance and display information across multiple departments and Ministries on a single platform.

Poorvottar Sampark Setu Portal:

» The “Poorvottar Sampark Setu” portal, is a powerful tool designed to streamline and enhance monitoring of Fortnightly visits of Union Ministers to NER.

Key Points:
    • The dashboard provides valuable insights and graphical information about State-wise/ District-wise visits to the North Eastern Region by Union Ministers to be used by all the stake holders in one place.
    • The portal generates a curated list of Ministers who can be nominated for visit to NER in the upcoming months. This list is dynamic and takes into account several factors to streamline the visits. ​​After the visit, the Minister can submit their tour reports along with their recommendations online.
    • MDoNER can forward the recommendations to respective line Ministries/Departments/State Governments for quick action, after analyzing the same. The Portal generates the summary report on the visits by a single click.

This initiative is set to redefine the landscape of Ministerial visits, meticulously crafted to elevate their efficacy, transparency, and profound influence. Its fundamental mission is to unequivocally ensure that the benefits of Central Government Schemes should reach to every citizen in the North East Region of India.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launches state-of-art National Survey Network (CORS Network)

⇒ Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched state-of-art latest National Survey Network on 12 October 2023.

    • The nationwide “Continuously Operating Reference Stations” (CORS) Network will be operated by the Survey of India.
    • The Survey of India has set up more than 1,000 CORS stations across India.

On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the stakeholder conference for Ortho rectified Image (ORI) and Digital Elevation Model (DEM). He also felicitated winners of Geospatial hackathon, conducted by Survey of India in partnership with IIIT Hyderabad and Microsoft Inc.

» Dr Jitendra Singh said we now have Indian data for Indian solutions.

India now has a world class Precise Location based service, which are capable of providing centimetre level positioning services in real time.

» In addition to the Geospatial sector, CORS based precision services will also boost auto navigation and machine control-based solution in Agriculture, Mining, Construction, Transport and Civil Aviation sector. This will open new domains of innovation and research and create a Geospatial based ecosystem in these sectors.

    • CORS data will also aid in various scientific studies like Upper Atmosphere and Space weather studies, Meteorology and weather forecast, Plate motion and Tectonic studies, Seismology and Hydrology etc.
    • Nationwide CORS based services will be available to business and pubic, which will not only ensure coherence in geospatial data generated by different stake holders by providing them common reference, but will also increase their productivity.
Background:

» The Government has initiated several growth-oriented initiatives the SVAMITVA project for mapping of rural abadi areas, the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity, Smart Cities & AMRUT Project for urban development, Bharatmala and Sagarmala Projects for improving the logistics sector, National Hydrology Project to harness water resources and multiple other infrastructural and developmental projects.

    • The common thread among all these projects is the requirement of high-accuracy mapping and positioning data, the deregulation of Geospatial Sector and democratization of Geospatial data has resulted in ease of access to these datasets to various user groups.
    • The Geospatial Guidelines of 2021 and National Geospatial Policy 2022 (NGP 2022) laid down a comprehensive plan for the transformation of the Geospatial sector in India.
    • Two main goals of National Geospatial Policy were to develop a coherent national framework and to enable easy availability of valuable Geospatial data collected utilizing public funds, to businesses and the general public.

FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship

⇒ 17-year-old Raunak Sadhwani from Nagpur, Maharashtra, emerged as the U-20 World Junior Rapid Chess champion at Sardinia, Italy on 12 October 2023.

    • GM Raunak Sadhwani clinched the FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship by scoring 8.5 points from11 rounds.

International Day of the Girl (IDG) 2023

⇒ International Day of the Girl (IDG) is observed every year on 11 October.

    • International Day of the Girl is a global platform to advocate for the full spectrum of girls’ rights.
    • The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
Theme:

The theme of International Day of the Girl 2023 was “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”.

History:
    • In 1995 at the World Conference on Women in Beijing countries unanimously adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing the rights of not only women but girls. The Beijing Declaration is the first to specifically call out girls’ rights.
    • On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
    • The International Day of the Girl Child was first celebrated in 2012.
