National:

Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar for the Year 2020

  • A committee headed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has selected Ms. Bhosale for Maharashtra Bhushan award for year the 2020, on 25 March 2021. Legendary singer Asha Bhosle has been honoured with the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2020.

Asha Bhosle is also the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2000.

About Award:

Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar is the Maharashtra State highest civilian award. It is presented annually by the government of Maharashtra state in India.

The Maharashtra Bhushan was first awarded in 1996. It is conferred in the fields of Literature, Art, Sport, Science, Social Work, Journalism, Public Administration and Health Services.

'SERB Women Excellence Award' for 2021

  • Dr Antara Banerjee, a scientist in Structural Biology Division of National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Indian Council of Medical Research, Mumbai has received the ‘SERB Women Excellence Award’ for 2021. Dr. Banerjee has contributed towards understanding the endocrinology in female reproduction that could be useful for assisted reproductive technologies.

The award is instituted by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST). The award recognises and rewards outstanding research achievements of young women scientists in frontier areas of Science and Engineering.

Appointment of ten Judges of Allahabad High Court

  • The President of India has appointed ten Additional Judges of Allahabad High Court as the Judges of the Allahabad High Court. A notification regarding this was issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law& Justice on 23rd March, 2021.

Ten Additional Judges are: S/Shri Justices Ali Zamin, Vipin Chandra Dixit, Shekhar Kumar Yadav, Ravi Nath Tilhari, Deepak Verma, Gautam Chowdhary, Shamim Ahmed, Dinesh Pathak, Manish Kumar and Samit Gopal 

Appointment of Seven Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court

  • The President of India has appointed S/Shri Mohd Aslam, Anil Kumar Ojha, Smt Sadhna Rani (Thakur), Naveen Srivastava, Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi, Ajai Tyagi, and Ajai Kumar Srivastava-1, to be an Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court.
    A notification regarding this was issued by Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice on 22 March, 2021.

Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court

  • The President of India has appointed Shri Rajendra Badamikar, and Sushree Khazi Jayabunnisa Mohiuddin to be an Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court for a period of two years.
    A notification regarding this was issued by Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice on 22 March, 2021.

International:

Minister of National Defence of Republic of Korea visited to India

  • Minister of National Defence of Republic of Korea, Mr Suh Wook visited to India during March 25-27, 2021.

During the visit, the dignitary hold the bilateral meeting with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss India–Republic of Korea defence cooperation along with other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

India’s First Indo-Korean friendship Park:

India’s First Indo-Korean friendship park has been jointly inaugurated on 26 March 2021 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of National Defence of South Korea Suh Wook, at Indian Army Cantonment area in New Delhi. It is spread across a green area of six acres. The park has been built to commemorate the contribution of Indian peacekeeping force during the Korean war of 1950-53.

World Meteorological Day 2021

  • World Meteorological Day celebrated every year on 23 March. The World Meteorological Day is observed to commemorate the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization, a specialised agency established by the United Nations. It was was established on March 23, 1950.
Theme:

The theme of the World Meteorological Day 2021 was “The ocean, our climate and weather”.

It also marks the starting year of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

Death:

  • Former Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Kamalesh Chandra Chakrabarty passed away in Mumbai on 26 March 2021. He was 68.

He served as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India between June 15, 2009 and April 25, 2014.

He also served as the Chairman and Managing Director of ‘Punjab National Bank’ from 2007 to 2009, and CMD of ‘Indian Bank’ from 2005 to 2007.

  • Noted film and theatre actor P C Soman died on 26 March 2021. He was 81. His roles in movies such as “Swayamvaram”, “Vidheyan” and “Mathilukal” were widely appreciated.
