Crop Insurance Awareness Campaign for Fasal Bima Yojana

⇒ Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar launched the Crop Insurance Awareness Campaign for Fasal Bima Yojana during the Crop Insurance Week.

It was launched as a part of Government’s India@75 campaign ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence.

During the launch event, Union Minister Shri Tomar said that Fasal Bima Yojana aims to provide security cover to each farmer. Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, in the last 4 years, premium amounting to Rs 17 thousand crores was deposited by the farmers, against which more than Rs 95 thousand crores have been provided to them as claims.

Activities:

Throughout the week, the campaign covered all notified areas/districts under Kharif 2021 season, with special focus on 75 Aspirational/Tribal districts identified by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, where crop insurance penetration is low.

From 1 July – 7 July, 2021, multiple engagement activities was conducted with farmers of these areas/districts through Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana vans, radio, regional newspapers, wall paintings, including digital media.

AOC-in-C of Western Air Command

⇒ Air Marshal BR Krishna Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Shaurya Chakra, took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Western Air Command on 01 Jul 21.

The Air Marshal was commissioned in the IAF in Dec 1983 as a Fighter Pilot.

Vice Chief of the Air Staff

⇒ Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari PVSM AVSM VM took over as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff on 01 July 2021.

The Air Marshal was commissioned in the Fighter stream of the IAF on 29 December 1982.

Acquisition of SB EHL by AGEL

⇒ The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of entire (i.e., 100%) shareholding of the SB Energy Holding Limited (“Target”) by Adani Green Energy Limited (“Acquirer”) on 30 June 2021.

AGEL is engaged in the business of power generation through renewable energy and is part of the Adani group.

The SB EHL is the ultimate holding company for special purpose vehicles (SPVs) formed in India that focus on developing renewable energy projects.

Book 'Gamble of Love'

⇒ The book ‘Gamble of Love’ is written by Shuklaji and published by Authors Channel.

8th edition of the National Community Radio Awards

⇒ Recently, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting announced the winners of the 8th edition of the National Community Radio Awards.

National Community Radio Awards are generally conferred every year. So far, 7 National Community Radio awards have been conferred.

IFCPC 2021 World Congress

⇒ The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the International Federation of Cerival Pathology and Colposcopy (IFCPC) 2021 World Congress on 01 July 2021.

The Vice President also launched a special edition of ‘Indian Journal of Gynaecological Oncology’ during the event.

Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare also addressed at the inaugural session of the 17th World Congress for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy.

Host:

For the first time, World Congress has been organized in Asia. It was hosted by the Indian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Theme:

The theme of the World congress was “Eliminating Cervical Cancer: Call for Action”.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said this year’s theme is aligned to the WHO call for Elimination of Cervical Cancer by 2030.

Participants:

During the event, eminent doctors, professors of medical science and stalwarts of medical fraternity specializing in Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy were participated.

Key points of Minister’s Address:

Dr Harsh Vardhan highlighted the crucial role undertaken by India to stop cervical cancer heeding to WHO’s 2030 target.

    • India is one of the few developing countries that have formulated the national cancer control program.
    • As a leader in Asia, in 2016, India launched the operational guidelines for screening of common cancers – cervical, breast, oral and Cervical Cancer.
    • India along with 194 others countries has collectively resolved to work together for elimination of this major killer a goal. It is achievable through 90% HPV vaccination coverage, 70% screening coverage and 90% treatment for cervical precancer and cancer including access to palliative care.
    • India is strengthening all levels of cancercare. In the last 7 years, 29 new AIIMS and 25 more Regional Cancer Centers have been developed. To add quality to the care, India has introduced a super specialty course in Gynaeoncology.

7th edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium

⇒ The 7th edition of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), a biennial event, was hosted by the French Navy at La Réunion from 28 June to 01 July 2021.

From India, Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy, participated in the inaugural session of the three-day event virtually.
