MoU for development of Sea Plane services in India

⇒ Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India and Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding for development of Sea Plane services in India on 15 June 2021.

This MoU envisages development of Non Scheduled/Scheduled operation of seaplane services within territorial jurisdiction of India under RCS-UDAN scheme of government of India.

It will help in expediting the development of new water aerodromes and also operationalization of new seaplane routes in India. It will also promote eco-friendly transportation through Seaplanes and give a boost to the tourism industry.

This MoU will be a game changer both for Indian Maritime and Civil Aviation sector.

Nafed Fortified Rice Bran Oil

⇒The Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Shri Sudhanshu Pandey has e-launched “Nafed Fortified Rice Bran Oil” on 15 June 2021. This Rice bran oil will be marketed by Nafed (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd).

Benefits of Oil:

Rice Bran oil has multiple health benefits, including lowering cholesterol level due to its low trans-fat content and high mono unsaturated and poly unsaturated fat contents. It also acts as a booster and reduces the risk of cancer due to the high amount of Vitamin E it contains.

Counsellor at the level of Director in India's Permanent Mission in the WTO

⇒ The Government of India on 16 June 2021 has appointed Aashish Chandorkar, a private person, as Counsellor at the level of director in India’s Permanent Mission in the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva for a period of three years.

Chandorkar is director of Bengaluru-based policy think tank Smahi Foundation of Policy and Research.

UN Trade Forum 2021: Towards a green and inclusive recovery

⇒ ‘UN Trade Forum 2021: Towards a green and inclusive recovery’ was held online on 14 -15 June 2021.

Minister of Railways, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution Shri Piyush Goyal addressed at UN Trade Forum 2021 as a speaker.

Key Points:

During UN Trade Forum 2021, Minister of Railways, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution Shri Piyush Goyal said that India’s per-capita CO2 emission is the lowest amongst big economies. Despite that, India is making its contribution in this direction.

He also said:

» India’s ambitious renewable energy target of 450 Gigawatts by 2030 shows our commitment towards the United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

» India has taken many bold steps on clean energy, energy efficiency, afforestation and bio-diversity, and that is why India is among the few countries whose NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) are 2-degree-Celsius compatible.

» India also encouraged global initiatives like International Solar Alliance and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

» Trade policy should look for more inclusive growth all over the world.

» A clean environment & inclusive development which is sustainable, is a priority agenda for India.

The current Minister of Railways is Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. The current Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution is Shri Piyush Goyal.
