Book, ‘The Ramayana of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has received the first copy of the book, ‘The Ramayana of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’. 

The book ‘The Ramayana of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’ was penned by Late Mrs. Baljit Kaur Tulsi Ji, who is the mother of noted lawyer Shri KTS Tulsi Ji.

Book- 'Terrace Garden: Midde Thota'

⇒ The Vice President, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu received the first copy of the English translation of Shri Thummeti Raghothama Reddy’s book- ‘Terrace Garden: Midde Thota’ on 10 July 2021.

The book is originally written in Telugu. The book chronicles Shri Reddy’s successful journey of developing a fruitful terrace garden at Naarapalle, Hyderabad.

The book has been translated by Shri Koduru Sitarama Prasad and the published by Shri Yadlapalli Venkateswara Rao.

MoU between Competition Commission of India and Japan Fair Trade Commission

⇒ Recently, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Memorandum on Cooperation between Competition Commission of India and Japan Fair Trade Commission to promote and strengthen cooperation in the matter of Competition Law and Policy.

Benefits:

The approved MoC, through exchange of information, will enable CCI to emulate and learn from the experiences and lessons of its counterpart competition agency in Japan which would enhance efficiency. The same will help improve enforcement of the Competition Act, 2002 by CCI.

The resultant outcomes will benefit consumers at large and will promote equity and inclusiveness.

MoU between ICoAl and ACCA, UK

⇒ Recently, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Memorandum of Understanding between Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICoAl) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom.

The MoU will provide mutual advanced entry to the Members of both the Institutes through exemptions from appearing in majority of papers to acquire the qualification of the other Professional Body and to undertake joint research, continuing professional development activities.

Benefits:

» This MoU will lead to a focus attention towards exchange of knowledge and exchange of research and publications which will strengthen good governance practice in both jurisdictions.

» Both parties will initiate joint research relevant to Cost Accountancy profession which could involve collaborative research in technical areas.

» This MoU will facilitate the movement of professionals in both jurisdictions and will enhance the employability of Cost Accountants in India and abroad.

New CEO of Waze

⇒ Neha Parikh, the former Indian-American president of the travel website Hotwire, has been appointed as the new CEO of Waze, a crowd-sourced navigation app and a subsidiary of tech giant Google.

About App:

Waze App was founded in 2008 in Israel. It was acquired by Google in 2013. The app can give out directions in 56 different languages. Currently, it has over 140 million active monthly users in more than 185 countries.

ICC Player of the Month for June 2021

⇒ The winners of the ICC Player of the Month for June 2021 were announced on 12 July 2021.

Men’s Category:

New Zealand opener Devon Conway won the ICC Player of the Month for June 2021 in men’s category. Conway became the first player from New Zealand to win the award. 

Women’s Category:

England Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone won the ICC Player of the Month for June 2021 in women’s category. Ecclestone became the second English female to win the award after Tammy Beaumont, who was crowned in February.

Death

Olympic gold medallist in hockey, Keshav Datt

⇒ Two-time Olympic gold medallist in hockey, Keshav Datt, died on 07 July 2021 in Santoshpur, Kolkata. He was 95.

Keshav Datt was part of India’s gold medal campaigns in the 1948 and 1952 Olympic Games. An integral part of the Indian team, Datt also captained the Mohun Bagan hockey squad from 1951-1953 and again in 1957-1958.

Datt was conferred with the Mohun Bagan Ratna award in 2019, becoming the first non-footballer recipient of the honour.

Haiti's President, Jovenel Moïse

⇒ Haiti’s President, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated on 07 July 2021 at his private residence in the capital, Port-au-Prince. He was 53.
