Postage Stamp in Memory of Dadi Prakashmani

⇒ The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu released a postage stamp in memory of Dadi Prakashmani, former chief of Brahma Kumaris at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on August 25, 2023.

    • This stamp was released under the ‘My Stamp’ initiative of the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications to mark the 16th death anniversary of Dadi Prakashmani.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that Dadi Prakashmani spread the Indian values and culture in India and abroad through spirituality. Under her leadership, the Brahma Kumaris became the largest women-led spiritual organization in the world. Like a true leader, she stood by Brahma Kumaris family with faith and courage even in challenging circumstances and always guided them.

National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference-2023

⇒ Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India is committed to ensure a safe and secure nation by strengthening all aspects of national security mechanism.

In pursuance of this, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference-2023, in New Delhi on 24 August 2023.

Participation:
    • A total of more than 750 participants, including officers working at cutting edge and subject experts, joined the Conference from across the country, in a combination of physical and virtual modes.
    • Among those who attended the Conference in Delhi were the two Ministers of States in MHA and top officers involved in managing national security issues, including the Union Home Secretary, Deputy NSAs, DGsP/IGsP of all States/UTs and CAPFs.
Discussion:

On the first day of the Conference, deliberations were held on various subjects of national security, including trends in Terror & Narco- Financing in India, use of Forensic Science in investigation, Social challenges, Emergency preparedness for Nuclear & Radiological exigencies and Cyber Security framework.

Union Home Minister addressed the concluding session of the two-day National Security Strategies Conference 2023 on 25 August. In his address, Home Minister stressed upon the need to provide timely justice to the citizens and ensure a system that would guarantee constitutional rights to them.

Prime Minister Modi conferred with the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour

⇒ The President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou conferred Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with ‘The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour’ on 25 August 2023.

    • The Order of Honour was established in 1975. The head of goddess Athena is depicted on the front side of the Star with the inscription “ONLY THE RIGHTEOUS SHOULD BE HONOURED”.
    • The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour is conferred by the President of Greece to Prime Ministers and eminent personalities who by reason of their distinguished position, have contributed to enhancing the stature of Greece.

Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia

⇒ Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni has named Hun Manet as the new prime minister after his father and current prime minister Hun Sen announced his resignation from the role. On 07 August a royal decree was issued by the King stating that he appoints Dr Hun Manet as the prime minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the 7th mandate of the parliament.

    • Hun Manet was sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia for a five-year term (2023-2028) on 22 August 2023 after winning a vote of confidence in the parliament.

Hun Manet, 45, succeeded his 71-year-old father Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who stepped down after having held the position for more than 38 years.

5th edition of AUSINDEX-23 at Sydney

⇒ 5th edition of biennial AUSINDEX maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was conducted from 22-25 August 23 at Sydney, Australia.

Highlights:
    • INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata participated in the exercise along with HMAS Choules and HMAS Brisbane from RAN. Besides ships and their integral helicopters, the exercise also witnessed participation of fighter aircraft and maritime patrol aircraft.
    • Conducted over 4 days, AUSINDEX included a series of complex exercises in all three domains of maritime operations.
    • The exercise ended on a high note revalidating the common procedures and reaffirming the close linkages and interoperability between Indian Navy and RAN.
