National Helpline 155260 and Reporting Platform for preventing financial loss due to cyber fraud
⇒ The Union Home Ministry under the leadership of the Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has started operationalisation of national Helpline 155260 and Reporting Platform for preventing financial loss due to cyber fraud. The Helpline was soft launched on April 01, 2021.
The National Helpline and Reporting Platform provides a mechanism for persons cheated in cyber frauds to report such cases to prevent loss of their hard earned money.
The Helpline 155260 and its Reporting Platform has been made operational by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs, with active support and cooperation from the Reserve Bank of India, all major banks, Payment Banks, Wallets and Online Merchants.
Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System:
The Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System has been developed in-house by Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to integrate Law Enforcement Agencies and Banks and Financial Intermediaries.
Roll-out of Helpline in States/UTs:
It is currently being utilized along with 155260 by seven States and Union Territories which includes Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
It is also being launched in other states to check the flow of money duped by the fraudsters so that it can be covered across the country.
Banks, Major Wallets & Merchants:
Currently, the Helpline and its Reporting Platform has all the major public and private sector banks onboard, including State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Union Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank etc. It also includes all major wallets and merchants such as PayTM, PhonePe, Amazon, etc.
High-level event on ‘Global Drive to Scale up TB Prevention'
⇒ Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare participated in a virtual high-level event on ‘Global Drive to Scale up TB Prevention’ organized by WHO Global Tuberculosis Programme, via video conference, on 16 June 2021.
The purpose of this special high-level event was to discuss key actions needed at the global and country-level to scale up TB prevention strategies and drive progress towards achieving the 2022 UN High-Level Meeting target on TB preventive treatment.
Addressing the ministerial roundtable on country commitments to enhance TB prevention, Dr Harsh Vardhan said-
» Scaling up TB preventive treatment is of utmost importance to break the chain of transmission and prevent the breakdown of those with TB infection into full-blown active TB disease.
» India is embarking on a new TB preventive treatment to combat and end TB by 2025.
»Expanding access to accurate TB screening and diagnostic tools, integrating TB services across all levels of our health system are all aligned to rapidly push down the TB incidence and mortality curve in the country.
» India has demonstrated unprecedented political commitment to End TB by 2025, five years ahead of the SDG target of 2030.
The current union minister of health and family welfare is Mansukh L Mandaviya.
Conference of BRICS Network Universities 2021
⇒ A three day virtual Conference of BRICS Network Universities was inaugurated at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on 16 June 2021. The conference was hosted by IIT Bombay from 16 June to 18 June, 2021.
This conference was part of the engagements that India is hosting under the education stream during its Chairship of the 13th BRICS Summit, for the year 2021.
2021 US Open (Golf)
⇒ The 121st United States Open Championship was the National Open Golf Championship of the United States.
The 2021 US Open Championship was played from 17 June to 20 June, 2021, on the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course, San Diego, California.
Jon Rahm won the 121st United States Open Championship. Rahm became the first US Open champion from Spain and won his first major championship.
World Music Day
⇒ World Music Day is celebrated across the globe on June 21 every year. The day is also known as Fete de la Musique in France where it originated. In 1982, the first World Music Day was celebrated on Summer Solstice in France.
