Mapping of the Archives Book launched at IGNCA

⇒ Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Kalanidhi Division held a book launch and discussion of the book ‘Mapping of the Archives in India’ in the Samvet auditorium on 23 November 2023.

» On this occasion Descriptive e- Catalogue of ‘Aagam- Tantra- Mantr- Yantra, Khand- 3, Bhag – 1-5’ was also launched.

» The book is authored by Prof. Ramesh Chandra Gaur and Vismay Basu and is published by IGNCA and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

Key Points:
    • The book contains 424 directories of archives of India. The book contains complete profile of the archives contained in the book.
    • The book informs of the conservation, digitisation, and archivisation perspectives as well.
    • This book is a pertinent initiative that leads to people in this field and researchers in the right direction.

REC awarded 'Best Employer in Diversity & Inclusion' award by ASSOCHAM

⇒ REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under Ministry of Power, received the “Best Employer for Policies in Diversity & Inclusion” Award on 23 November 2023 at the 4th Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Awards and Conclave organized by Assocham.

    • Shri TSC Bosh, Executive Director, REC, graciously accepted the award on behalf of REC.

The ‘Best Employer for Policies in Diversity & Inclusion’ award highlights REC’s commitment to creating a workplace that celebrates differences, fosters innovation, and promotes equal opportunities for all employees.

About REC:
    • REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE was established in 1969 under Ministry of Power.
    • REC provides long term loans and other finance products for Power-Infrastructure sector comprising of Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Renewable Energy and new technologies like Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage, Green Hydrogen etc.
    • REC was also recognized for its exceptional performance in risk management with the esteemed ‘Golden Peacock Award’. The award was presented by the Institute of Directors (IOD).

ASEAN-India Millet Festival 2023

⇒ The Indian Mission to ASEAN, in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, organized the ASEAN-India Millet Festival 2023, in Indonesia from 22nd November to 26th November 2023.

    • The ASEAN-India Millet Festival 2023 was a platform to raise awareness about millets and foster sustainable agriculture.
    • The inaugural session of the festival took place in the Kota Kasablanka Mall, a prominent shopping destination in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
    • A Millet-centric exhibition was organized as part of the festival, with participation from millet-based FPOs, start-ups and Indian chefs.
Aim:

Aligned with the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023) celebrations, an aim of this festival was to raise awareness and create a market for millets and millets-based products among the ASEAN Member states i.e. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Panel Discussion:
    • The first panel discussion was held on ‘ASEAN-India Collaboration in Millets’. The topics explored during the insightful panel conversation encompassed knowledge transfer, seed exchange, market expansion and collaborative efforts in training farmers and chefs for millet cultivation and consumption.
    • Another panel discussion highlighted the inherent climate-resilient qualities of millets, benefits for small farmers, initiatives combating climate change through millet cultivation, strategies for promoting and cultivating millets.
Key Points:
    • During the festival, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare led a delegation from India, representing a diverse set of professionals engaged in the Indian millet ecosystem, including chefs, start-ups, representatives from Farmer Producer Organizations, industry leaders, etc.
    • A major highlight of the event was the live cooking workshop from November 23rd to 26th.
    • The aim of the exhibition was to foster collaboration between ASEAN countries, celebrate cultural and culinary diversity and promote sustainable millet practices for a healthier future.
    • The exhibition also featured five Indian FPOs, namely Citi Block FPC, Jewargi Taluka Millets FPC, Bhumitrajalalpur, Vaam Agro, and Lambasingi Tribal Products FPC, and two start-ups namely Taru Naturals and Sattva Millets and Food Products (Mibbles). They exhibited unique millet-added products such as millet cookies, namkeen, khakhra, cakes, and more.

» The five-day festival contributed towards raising awareness about millets. It is also a step towards implementation of the ASEAN-India Joint Leaders’ Statement on Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition in Response to Crises adopted at the 20th ASEAN-India Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia on 07th September 2023.

Prime Minister of Luxembourg

⇒ Luc Frieden is officially sworn in as Prime Minister of Luxembourg on 17 November 2023, alongside members of his new CSV-DP government.

    • The Prime Minister and ministers took the oath of office during a ceremony presided over by Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

Frieden’s CSV party won 21 seats and Bettel’s DP took 14 seats in the Chamber of Deputies (out of 60 MPs) during the national elections in October 2023.

2023 Asian Para Archery Championships

⇒ The 2023 Asian Para Archery Championships was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 16 to 25 November 2023.

Performance of India:

India finished first in the medal table with a total of 9 medals including 4 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze, while South Korea finished their campaign with five medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) and stood second.

    • The Indian contingent shone its best performance so far in the championship.
