National:

Inauguration of Hisar Airport:
  • The newly constructed Hisar Airport in Haryana was inaugurated Under RCS-UDAN. On 14 January 2021, First flight to the Hisar airport from Chandigarh was flagged off under the Regional Connectivity Scheme – Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN) of the Government of India.

International:

Prarambh: Startup India International Summit:
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with startups and addressed “Prarambh: Startup India International Summit”, on 16 January 2021. The two-day Summit was held from 15 January to 16 January, 2021.

The Summit was organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

In this, 24 sessions were held, with participation from over 25 countries and more than 200 global speakers.

It was focused on enhancing multilateral cooperation and engagement with countries from around the globe to collectively develop and strengthen the startup ecosystems.

MoU Between UAE & India:
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between National Centre of Meteorology, United Arab Emirates and Ministry of Earth Sciences, India.
    The MoU provides for sharing of knowledge, data and operational products for meteorological, seismological and oceanic services, such as Radar, Satellite, Tide gauges, seismic and Meteorological stations.
Important Day:
  • Indian Armed Forces celebrated Fifth Veteran’s Day on 14 January 2021. This year, it was celebrated as Swarnim Vijay Varsh. It marks 50th Anniversary of 1971 Indo-Pak War.

This day is celebrated on 14th of January every year to honour services rendered by veterans of the Army. The first Armed Forces Veterans Day was organised on 14 January 2017.

The day was chosen as recognition of the services rendered by the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, OBE who retired on this day in 1953.
