A Model Panchayat Citizens Charter for Delivery of the Services
⇒ Union Minister of Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Panchayati Raj Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Released a Model Panchayat Citizens Charter/ framework for delivery of the services across the 29 sectors, aligning actions with localised Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It was prepared by Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) in collaboration with National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR).
The Citizen Charter would ensure transparent and effective delivery of public services for sustainable development and enhanced citizen service experiences; deepening inclusive and accountable Local Self Governments by incorporating diverse views while designing and delivering services.
On this occasion, Union Minister said, the aim of establishing a Citizen charter is to provide services to the people in a time bound manner, redressing their grievances and improving their lives.
He also said, it is expected that the Panchayats will utilise this framework to draw up a Citizens Charter and adopt it through a resolution of the Gram Sabha by 15th August, 2021.
MOS Nanorods Array-based Oxygen Sensor
⇒ A team of scientists led by Dr S Angappane, a Scientist at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), an autonomous research institute under the Department of Science & Technology, have fabricated a metal oxide semiconductor nanorods array-based oxygen sensor.
The oxygen sensor works at room temperature with assistance of UV irradiation. It can detect broad ppm range of oxygen gas concentrations in places such as underground mines, at higher altitudes, inside aeroplanes and research labs.
Joint Secretary (Navy & Defence Staff) in the Department of Military Affairs
⇒ Rear Admiral Kapil Mohan Dhir has taken over as the Joint Secretary (Navy & Defence Staff) in the Department of Military Affairs. He is the first Armed Forces officer to tenant this assignment.
He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 January 1985. He is also a recipient of the ‘VishistSeva Medal’ and the ‘AtiVishishtSeva Medal’ for distinguished service.
Director General Naval Operations
⇒ Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, AVSM, VSM has assumed charge as Director General Naval Operations on 07 June 2021. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy in Jan 1987.

Asian Elite Boxing Championships 2021
⇒ The 31st edition of the Asian Elite Boxing Championships was held from 24 to 31 May 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Indian Boxers, Sanjeet Kumar & Pooja Rani won Gold medals in Heavy weight 91 kg Category & Middle weight 75 kg Category respectively. Boxing Champion M C Mary Kom won the Silver medal in Flyweight 51 kg category.

This year's Fastest Indian Woman
⇒ Srabani Nanda has emerged as the fastest Indian woman this year. Srabani Nanda clocked a personal best 11.36s while running against some of the world’s best at the NACAC New Life Invitational Meet in Florida, the US on 05 June 2021.
With her 11.36s, Nanda replaces S. Dhanalakshmi, who clocked 11.38s in the Federation Cup in Patiala in March, 2021.
Dutee Chand (personal best 11.22, season best 11.44) and Hima Das (11.63) occupy the third and fourth in this year’s list.
