- The 2024 Australian Open was the 112th edition of the Australian Open. It was also the 56th in the Open Era, and the first major of the year.
» Jannik Sinner of Italy won the men’s singles title. Jannik Sinner won his first major title. Sinner, aged 22 years and 165 days, won the title and emerged as the youngest champion since Novak Djokovic in 2008.
» Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s singles title. Aryna Sabalenka successfully defended the women’s singles title and claimed her second major singles title.
Indian tennis players in 2024 Australian Open:
» India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden defeated the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori 7(7)-6(0), 7-5 to win the Australian Open 2024 men’s doubles title.
- At the age of 43 years and nine months, Rohan Bopanna also became the oldest man to win a Grand Slam title in the Open era of tennis.
- This was Rohan Bopanna’s second Gland Slam title and the first in men’s doubles.
- Bopanna’s win in Melbourne also marked the 33rd Grand Slam title won by Indian tennis players.
