India’s first ever Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards- 2022

⇒ Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh addressed the first ever Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 28 October 2022.

» Dr Jitendra Singh said, India will become a digital health leader, as we have the world’s best technical manpower required and our data is the cheapest in the world, approaching 100 percent coverage.

    • The Minister said, the recent launch of 5G will bring a new revolution in the Digital Health care system in India.
    • The Minister said, we must work together to ensure ‘Digital Health for All’, which is a pre-condition to achieve ‘Health for All’.
About Summit:

India’s first ever Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards was held on 28th & 29th October 2022 at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Theme:

The theme of the summit was “Digital Health for All”.

Host:

This summit was in partnership with global bodies working in Digital Health and co-hosted by the Internet Governance Forum, United Nations.

Participation:

Over 1500 delegates from 35 countries participated in this summit. The world’s foremost leaders and the senior policy makers from the Government of India participated at this summit.

Important launches:

This was an action summit, and it led to important launches which will pave the way for ‘Digital Health for All by 2028’, and this is critical for the success of India’s journey in digital health.

This summit witnessed the following launches:
    • Release of ‘Digital Health For All by 2028’- Declaration by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office
    • Launch of the first Women’s Health Guideline with a holistic approach
    • ‘Project Concern- 2028’ for taking Digital Health to pharmacies across India
    • Campaign on ‘Women for Digital Health’

» Global Digital Health Innovation Awards are open to all Healthcare providers from the public and private sectors, including start-ups working in the field of Digital Health.

International

1st edition of India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT)

⇒ The first edition of India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT), a joint maritime exercise among the Indian, Mozambique and Tanzanian navies commenced at Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on 27 October 2022.

» Indian Navy is represented by the guided missile frigate, INS Tarkash, a Chetak helicopter and MARCOS (Special Forces).

Objective:

The exercise has three broad objectives: capability development to address common threats through training and sharing of best practices, enhancing interoperability, and strengthening maritime cooperation.

The exercise was scheduled over a three-day period from 27 to 29 October 2022 and included harbour and sea phases.

» As part of the harbour phase, capability building activities such as Visit, Board, Search and Seizure; small arms training; joint diving operations; damage control and fire fighting exercises; and cross deck visits, were conducted.

» The sea phase included boat operations, fleet manoeuvres, Visit, Board, Search and Seizure operations, helicopter operations, small arms firing, formation anchoring and EEZ patrols.

» These exercises reflect India’s and the Indian Navy’s commitment to enhancing maritime security and cooperation with maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean Region and promoting SAGAR, Safety and Growth for All in the Region.

NSDC International partners with Perdaman to enhance India Australia trade

⇒ In a step towards Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to make India, the skill capital of the world, NSDC International (NSDCI) and Perdaman got into a partnership to create an interface between Indian skilled youth and market opportunities in Australia.

Key Features of the Partnership:
    • This partnership will enable a gateway for the Indian skilled youth to Australia.
    • This agreement will lead to deeper cooperation between the two companies and is another chapter in fast growing India and Australia mutual co-operation.
    • This association will empower the skilled youth of India by connecting them to opportunities in Australia, gain global exposure and contribute to the overall well-being of the globe.
    • This is aligned to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat which is about building self-reliance while also contributing to global good.
    • The collaboration will also provide students from India/Australia with the opportunity to study in the reciprocal country through various channels.
    • Going forward, it would also explore the scholarship opportunity and the possibility of a reduction of the fee for students coming from economically weaker backgrounds.
    • The association will work in various industry sectors including manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, renewable energy and electric vehicles.

    • The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) launched NSDCI as a 100% subsidiary to play role in steering national and international partnerships for overseas employment through specific programmes, positioning India as the preferred hub for the supply of skilled workforce across the globe.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day- 2022

⇒ Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is celebrated every year on 31st October in India.

    • Government of India observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022 on the 31st October 2022 in commemoration of the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Prime Minister participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022 celebrations at the Status of Unity, Kevadia.
    • The celebrations witnessed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which included contingents of BSF and of five State Police Forces, one each from the Northern Zone (Haryana), Western Zone (Madhya Pradesh), Southern Zone (Telangana), Eastern Zone (Odisha) and North Eastern Zone (Tripura).
    • Apart from the contingents, six Police Sports Medal winners of the Commonwealth Games 2022 also participated in the Parade.
‘Run for Unity’:

On the occasion of National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 147th birth anniversary on October 31, 2022, and to pay tribute to his belief in integrity, over 500 officials from the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) and its attached/ autonomous offices took part with zeal and enthusiasm in the ‘Run for Unity’ from the premises of Electronics Niketan to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Background:
    • Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was decided to reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
    • National Unity Day is celebrated to mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to honour his contribution to India’s Independence and beyond, and most notably during the integration of the princely states in India.
    • Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and is popularly known as the ‘Iron Man of India’.
Sardar Patel National Unity Award:
    • The Sardar Patel National Unity Award is also presented on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas which recognizes notable and inspiring contributions made by people to promote the cause of national unity and integrity.
    • The Sardar Patel National Unity Award is an award by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
    •  In 2019, Government of India announced this award to recognise the extraordinary contributions towards the unity and integrity of the country.
