Strategic Partnership between IPPB & MRHFL

⇒ India Post Payments Bank and Mahindra Rural Housing Finance Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Ltd has announced a strategic partnership for cash management solution on May 24, 2021.

As part of the tie-up, IPPB will be offering cash management and collection services to MRHFL through its access points and postal service providers.

The tie-up for cash management solution is a significant partnership in the financial services sector. The partnership is aimed at customer inclusivity by both the partners. Now, Mahindra Rural customers can repay loans at over 136,000 post offices.

Doordarshan will Set up of New International Channel, DD International

⇒ India’s national broadcaster, Doordarshan (DD) is going to set up a new international channel, DD International, to present India’s point of view to the world. DD International channel will specifically tell “the India story to a global audience”.

Recently, Prasar Bharati, the parent body of DD, has floated an Expression of Interest (EOI) seeking suggestions to draft a detailed project report for the upcoming news channel.

This will be the second channel from Doordarshan after DD India, to reach out to the global audience. The DD India is an English news and current affairs channel that also reaches out to the global audience.

⇒ N Anandavalli took charge as Director of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Structural Engineering Research Center (CSIR–SERC) in Taramani on 21 May 2021. She joined CSIR-SERC as scientist in 1998.

Ayush Clinical Case Repository Portal and the third version of Ayush Sanjivani App

⇒ Union Minister of state (IC) for Ayush Shri Kiren Rijiju launched the Ayush Clinical Case Repository (ACCR) portal and the third version of Ayush Sanjivani App in a virtual event on 27 May 2021.

The Ayush Clinical Repository (ACCR) portal will serve as a platform to support both Ayush practitioners and general public. This portal aims to aggregate information about clinical outcomes achieved by Ayush practitioners on a large scale.

India Biodiversity Award 2021

⇒ Shaji N M also known as ‘Tuber Man’ of Kerala has been awarded the India Biodiversity Award 2021 in the individual category of ‘Conservation of domesticated species’.

The award has been awarded during the International Day for Biological Diversity 2021 i.e. on 22 May 2021, includes Rs 2 lakh cash prize and citation.

Mr. Shaji, who conserves a wide array of around 200 tuber crops including greater yam, lesser yam, elephant foot yam, arrow root, colocasia, sweet potato, cassava and Chinese potato in his farm.

2565th Vesak International Buddha Purnima Diwas 2021

⇒ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed on the occasion of 2565th Vesak International Buddha Purnima Diwas 2021 on 26 May 2021.

Vesak- Buddha Purnima is considered the Triple Blessed Day as TathagataGautam Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment and MahaParnirvana.

On the occasion of Virtual Vesak Global Celebrations, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel conferred “Vaisakh Samman Prashasti Patra” for 2019, 2020 and 2021 to Dhamma Masters who are outstanding scholars of Buddhist philosophy.

The Vaisakh Samman Prashasti Patra was instituted in 2015. It is given annually on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Poornima by the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India and International Buddhist Confederation.

It is given to honour prominent national and international personalities for their contribution to Buddhist studies, research, writing, dissemination of Buddha’s teachings and preservation of Buddhist cultural heritage.

Telugu Producer and Veteran Journalist B A Raju

⇒ Telugu producer and veteran journalist B A Raju died in Hyderabad. He was 62.

He ran a popular film magazine ‘Super Hit’ for several years. He was also a well known film trade analyst.
