India’s 1st Bauxite CRM

⇒ NALCO has successfully developed a Bauxite Certified Reference Material (CRM) naming as BARC B1201 in joint collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).

    • This is the first of its kind CRM in India and 5th in the World.
    • National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna CPSE, under Ministry of Mines, Govt of India and is the country’s leading manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium.

BARC B1201 was formally launched by Shri M.P Mishra, Director (P&;T), NALCO and Dr A C Sahayam, Head of Division, National Centre for Compositional Characterisation of Materials at NALCO Research & Technology Centre, Bhubaneswar on 24th March 2023.

» Worth mentioning that this new product will act as an import substitution for use by Industries, Research Laboratories and Academic Institutions as a calibration standard in evaluating analytical methods, performance of Instruments, and data quality control in routine analysis of bauxite.

Union Home Minister hoisted 103 feet high tricolor at Gorata Maidan

⇒ Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated Gorata Martyr Memorial and SardarVallabhbhai Patel Memorial and also unfurled the 103 feet high tricolor at Gorata ground in Bidar, Karnataka on 26 March 2023.

    • This monument of Sardar Patel is a symbol of liberation of the people of Hyderabad-Karnataka-Marathwada from the cruel rule of the Nizam.

Shri Shah said that today is a very important day; because in 1948, at this place, the Nizam killed hundreds of people for hoisting a two-and-a-half-feet tricolor and I am fortunate to hoist a 103-feet tall tricolor at the same place today.

On 17th September 2014, on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day, laid the foundation stone of the memorial so that the whole country could pay tribute to the martyrs of Gorata for hundreds of years.

Union Home Minister unveils the statues of Lord Basaveshwara and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru

⇒ Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah unveiled the statues of Lord Basaveshwara ji and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda ji at the State Assembly premises in Bengaluru, Karnataka on 26 March 2023.

    • These statues will continue to give Basavanna ji and Kempegowda ji’s message of social justice, democracy, good governance and development to those who get elected in the assembly.

23rd edition of INDIASOFT

⇒ The 23rd edition of INDIASOFT was held on March 27-28, 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

» Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Ms. Anupriya Patel inaugurated the 23rd edition of INDIASOFT at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 27 March 2023.

She said that by 2047 India would become a developed country with a GDP of USD 32 trillion, which would be a defining moment for India and the global community alike. This scale of growth would be greatly influenced by the strides India is making in the ICT sector.

» Over 650 delegates from 80 countries participated in the three-day event. More than 1500 Indian exhibitors showcased their products and solutions at the event, together with other collocated events.

Spring Fiesta 2023

⇒ National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi for the first time organised “Spring Fiesta” 2023, to celebrate 69 years of the museum which was officially inaugurated on March 29, 1954 by Vice President Dr S Radhakrishnan.

Key Points:
    • More than 50 stalls were set up for display and sales at the museum lawns by enthusiastic participants from different walks of life who specialise in items such as handicrafts, ceramics, indigenous art, fashion, and so on.
    • The fiesta was the first of its kind and the audience was captivated by a variety of creative products accessible for purchase at nominal prices.
    • It served as a platform for individuals to showcase their work while also raising exposure and generating interest in locally made, handcrafted, and curated products.

» The education and research department of NGMA is constantly working on ideas and projects in order to provide an interactive experience for the visitors so that they can connect more with the museum.

1st Universal Acceptance (UA) Day 2023

⇒ National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) successfully organised a 2-day event (27-28th March) on Universal Acceptance Day to drive collaborative efforts for an inclusive and multilingual internet in India.

National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is a non-for-profit company, under the aegis of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

    • India was the flag bearer this year to promote and promulgate Universal Acceptance (UA) for digital inclusion.
    • Being celebrated globally, this inaugural UA Day was aimed at driving efforts for inclusive and multilingual internet.
    • Adoption of UA in India can add another 500 million broadband users to add value to the digital economy, promote startup ecosystems and generate employment opportunities.
    • Universal Acceptance means building a technical environment to allow computing devices, operating systems, browsers, social media or e-commerce to accept instructions in local language other than English and ensure valid domain names and email addresses, regardless of script, language or character length.
Inaugural UA Day:

Celebrated globally on 28th March, this inaugural Universal Acceptance (UA) Day was organized by Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

UA Day is an opportunity to rally local, regional, and global communities and organizations around the world to spread general UA awareness and to encourage UA adoption with key stakeholders.

    • It successfully engaged and mobilized top technical and language communities, companies, governments and DNS industry stakeholders to better understand the benefits of UA and how they can make their systems UA-ready.
    • It was reported that more than 40 countries participated in celebrating 1st Global UA day.
