Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav 2024 and National One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2023
⇒ The ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav 2024’ was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Union Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Guest of Honour, Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 03 January 2024.
- During the event, the Ministers gave the National One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2023 to the winners.
The Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav and National ODOP Awards ceremony are a celebration of India’s journey towards self-reliance, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage, diverse talents, and innovative spirit.
Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav 2024:
» The Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav 2024, took place from 3rd to 10th January 2024 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, was a dynamic event crafted to display India’s economic strength and cultural richness.
Hosted by:
Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav 2024 was hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
It was organized into various zones, each distinctively showcasing the nation’s technological advancements and economic developments, alongside a colourful assortment of local products from different States and Union Territories. These zones collectively highlight the richness of India’s heritage and its burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit.
ODOP Awards 2023:
» The ODOP Awards recognise the substantial efforts and successes in promoting the ODOP Initiative, bringing together Districts, States, and Indian Missions abroad to celebrate their contributions towards this innovative national endeavour.
» The ODOP Awards edition for this year, garnered considerable interest, facilitated through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal from 25th June to 31st July 2023.
- The overwhelming response, characterized by 580 applications from 535 districts, 26 States/UTs, and 19 Indian Missions Abroad, illustrated a nationwide dedication to promoting competitive spirit, encouraging innovative practices, and enhancing the quality of public service delivery.

» There are a total of 24 Awards across 3 categories – for Districts, States and Union Territories and Indian Missions Abroad which were received by their representatives at the ceremony.
List of Awardees for ODOP Awards 2023
Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program
⇒ Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India has launched ‘Prerana: An Experiential Learning program’, aiming to offer a meaningful, unique, and inspiring experience to all participants, thereby empowering them with leadership qualities.
Prerana is driven by a strong commitment to integrate principles of Indian education system and the philosophy of value-based education which is a corner stone of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
» Prerana is a week-long residential program for selected students of class IX to XII.
- It is an experiential and inspirational learning program for students with the best-in-class technology where heritage meets innovation.
- A batch of 20 selected students (10 boys and 10 girls) will attend the program, every week from various parts of the country.
- Prerana program will run from a Vernacular School, established in 1888, in one of the oldest living cities of India, Vadnagar, district Mehsana, Gujarat.
Curriculum:
» The curriculum of Prerana School prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar is rooted in nine value based themes:
- Swabhiman and Vinay
- Shaurya and Sahas
- Parishram and Samarpan
- Karuna and Sewa
- Vividhta and Ekta
- Satyanishtha and Shuchita
- Navachar and Jigyasa
- Shraddha aur Vishwas
- Swatantrata and Kartavya
» The program based on above themes will inspire the youth and foster respect for Bharat’s unity in diversity, embodying the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and will contribute by making the youth of today, a flame holder for Viksit Bharat.
- Towards this endeavour, the participants will be guided by mentors from prestigious institutions.
Other Points:
- The day-wise program schedule will feature yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, followed by experiential learning, thematic sessions, and hands on interesting learning activities.
- Evening activities will include visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, mission life creative activities, talent shows etc. ensuring a holistic learning approach.
- Apart from this, students will engage in diverse activities, embracing indigenous knowledge systems, latest State-of-Art technologies, and learnings from inspirational personalities.
- Upon selection, the 20 participants (10 boys and 10 girls) will be attending the Prerana program and embark on a journey of inspiration, innovation, and self-discovery.
- After the program, the participants will carry the ethos of Prerana into their respective communities, become change makers and spark positive change to inspire others.
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff
⇒ Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM took over as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff on 04 January 2024.
- Prior to taking over as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, VAdm Dinesh K Tripathi served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
About Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi:
- An alumnus of Sainik School Rewa and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1985.
- He also attended Naval Higher Command Course and Naval Command College at the US Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Islands in 2007-08, where he won the prestigious Robert E Bateman International Prize.
- Vice Admiral Tripathi is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Nausena Medal for devotion to duty.
