- The United States topped the medal table with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold, 44 silver and 42 bronze. The United States topped the medal table for the 4th consecutive Summer Olympics Games and 19th time overall.
- The People’s Republic of China finished second with a total of 91 medals (40 gold, 27 silver, 24 bronze), while Japan finished third with 45 medals (20 gold, 12 silver, 13 bronze).

» Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and four-time Olympian Sharath Kamal were the flag-bearers for India at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024.
» Hockey legend PR Sreejesh and shooter Manu Bhaker were the joint flag-bearers at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony held on August 11.

Neeraj Chopra:
» Neeraj Chopra produced the second-best javelin throw performance of his career with an effort of 89.45m at Paris 2024.
- Chopra became the fifth two-time Olympic medallist from India after adding a silver to his Tokyo 2020 gold medal. Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu and Manu Bhaker are the other two-time Olympic medallists from India.
Manu Bhaker:
» Manu Bhaker won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal.
- Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to qualify for an Olympic final in shooting since Athens 2004.
Manu Bhaker-Sarabjot Singh:
» Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh became the first Indian shooting pair to win an Olympic medal in shooting at Paris 2024.
- Overall, it was India’s sixth Olympic medal in shooting.
» A medal in the individual 10m air pistol event and the 10m air pistol mixed team made Manu Bhaker the first athlete of independent India to win two medals in one edition of the Olympics.
- Norman Pritchard, with silvers in the men’s 200m and men’s 200m hurdles at Paris 1900, was the first athlete to win two medals at one Olympics for India.

» Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions on August 1, taking India’s medals tally in shooting at Paris 2024 to three. India had never won three medals in one sport before at any edition of the Games.

- This was also India’s first-ever Olympic shooting medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions.
» The Indian men’s hockey team came from a goal down to beat Spain 2-1 and win the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. India, also the bronze medallists in hockey at Tokyo, bagged back-to-back Olympic medals in hockey for the first time in 52 years, since Munich 1972.
- The victory at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium also saw India secure a record-extending 13th medal in hockey at the Olympics.
- Harmanpreet Singh was India’s top-scorer at Paris 2024 with 10 goals.
» The Indian men’s hockey team, riding on skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s brace, beat Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia 3-2 in a group game at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
- This was India’s first victory against Australia in hockey at the Olympics since Munich 1972.
» Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat finished fourth in the mixed team event to secure India’s best result in archery at the Olympics.
- It was the first time Indian archery had even reached the semi-finals of any event at the Games.
» Lakshya Sen became the first Indian shuttler to reach the semi-finals in a men’s badminton event at the Olympics.
» Manika Batra, seeded 18th in the women’s singles event, became the first Indian table tennis player to progress to the pre-quarterfinals of the Olympic Games at Paris 2024.
- Manika’s campaign ended after a 4-1 defeat to eighth-seeded Japanese player Miu Hirano in the pre-quarterfinals.
