World Food India (WFI) 2025 was held from 25 to 28 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

  • This was the fourth edition of World Food India (WFI). It showcased India’s strengths in the food processing sector, food sustainability and the production of nutritious and organic food.

World Food India 2025 was a historic global platform that showcased India’s transformative journey in the food processing sector and promoted international collaboration and investment opportunities.

Inauguration of WFI:

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 4th edition of World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 25th September 2025.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also released credit-linked subsidies to 26,000 beneficiaries for micro projects worth ₹2,518 crore under the PMFME scheme, reflecting the government’s commitment to empowering grassroots entrepreneurs.

The four-day World Food India 2025, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), was a flagship international event positioning India as a ‘Global Food Hub’.

Theme of 4th World Food India:

The theme of the fourth edition of the World Food India 2025 event was “Processing for Prosperity“.

Participation in WFI:

Covering an expansive area of ​​1,00,000 sq. meters, this mega global food event saw participation from over 21 countries, 21 Indian States/UTs, 10 Central Ministries and 5 allied Government organizations, making it the largest congregation of stakeholders in India’s food processing sector.

This event brought together global leaders, policymakers, industry captains, and innovators to deliberate on the future of food and agriculture.

  • Focus Countries: Japan, Russia, UAE, and Vietnam
The fourth edition of World Food India was structured around five core pillars:
  1. Sustainability and Net Zero Food Processing
  2. India as a Global Food Processing Hub
  3. Frontiers in Food Processing, Products and Packaging Technologies
  4. Food for Nutrition, Health and Wellness
  5. Livestock & Marine Products Accelerating the Indian Rural Economy

Highlights of World Food India 2025:

Day 1:

» On first day of the event, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries facilitated the signing of MoUs amounting to over ₹76,000 crore with leading domestic and global players in the food processing sector.

  • These investments span across key sub-sectors including beverages, dairy, and confectionery, and cover a wide geography, from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, and the North-Eastern region.
Day 2:

» The second day of World Food India 2025 saw significant progress towards establishing India as the global food basket of the future, with dialogues focused on sustainability, technology, investment and international partnerships.

  • The second day included sessions organised by partner and focus states, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand and Bihar; countries like New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan and Russia; and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of AYUSH, APEDA and the World Bank.
  • The Ministry of Food Processing Industries witnessed the signing of MoUs by twenty-one companies with investments worth of more than ₹25,000 crore.
  • With these, the total value of MoUs signed on Day 1 & 2 crossed ₹1 lakh crore worth of investments.
  • During the first two days of the event, there were 4,657 B2B meetings, 154 G2G meetings, and 9,564 RBSM meetings, while the overall footfall stood at 35,784.
Day 3:

» Day 3 of World Food India 2025 witnessed a series of impactful technical sessions, international collaborations, and knowledge exchanges, further reinforcing India’s role as a global hub for food processing and innovation.

  • Partner and focus states including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Odisha conducted dedicated sessions showcasing their strengths.
  • NIFTEM-K transferred two key technologies: “Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0 initiatives” to Interlink Foods Pvt. Ltd. and “Unfermented Mayo” to Jiwanmitra Nutraceuticals Private Limited.
Day 4:

» The 4th World Food India 2025 concluded on September 28, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, marking a landmark moment in the journey of India’s food processing sector.

Over the course of the four-day event, 26 leading domestic and global companies signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth a total of ₹1,02,046.89 crore, marking one of the largest investment announcements in India’s food processing sector.

  • These MoUs are projected to generate direct employment for over 64,000 people and create indirect opportunities for more than 10 lakh individuals, reinforcing the government’s vision of positioning India as a global hub for food processing.
  • The event witnessed strong industry and public participation, with more than 10,500 B2B meetings, 261 G2G meetings, and over 18,000 reverse buyer-seller meetings organized over four days. Cumulative footfall crossed 95,000, reflecting the scale and interest generated by the event.
Summary:

World Food India included CEO roundtables, technical sessions, exhibitions, and multiple business interactions including B2B (business-to-business), B2G (business-to-government), and G2G (government-to-government) meetings.

It also showcased 21 exhibiting countries, including France, Germany, Iran, Australia, South Korea, Denmark, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Belgium, Tanzania, Eritrea, Cyprus, Afghanistan, China, and the USA, along with 150 international participants.

World Food India also organised multiple thematic sessions covering a wide range of topics such as India as a Global Food Processing Hub, Sustainability and Net Zero in Food Processing, Frontiers in Food Processing, India’s Pet Food Industry, Processed Foods for Nutrition and Health, Plant-Based Foods, Nutraceuticals, Specialty Foods, among others.

Pavilions:
  • It featured 14 pavilions, each dedicated to specific themes and attracted around 100,000 visitors.
  • The event was spread across 7 halls in two floors and 2 hangars, with each hall showcasing a different category of products. The pavilions included Partner and Focus Countries and States, Central Ministries, DPIIT supported Startups, major Indian and International MNCs, Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme and Small-Scale Companies.
In addition, two prestigious international events were also organized alongside WFI 2025:
  1. 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)– providing a unique platform for global regulators to deliberate on harmonization of food safety standards and strengthen international regulatory cooperation.
  2. 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS)by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) – focusing on India’s growing seafood export potential and global market linkages.
Background of World Food India:
  • World Food India serves as a premier platform for stakeholders from across the world to connect, collaborate, and explore opportunities in India’s dynamic food processing landscape.
  • The first edition was held in 2017, followed by a successful second edition in 2023 and the third in 2024.
