Hydrogen Roundtable titled- "Hydrogen Economy- the Indian Dialogue-2021"

  • The Energy Forum and the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, organised a Hydrogen Roundtable titled “Hydrogen Economy- the Indian Dialogue-2021” on 15 April 2021.

The Hydrogen Roundtable was aimed to discuss emerging hydrogen ecosystems and exploring opportunities for collaboration, cooperation and coalition.

Participants:

The Hydrogen Roundtable had 25 panelists’ from15 countries. They discussed the potential of Hydrogen from multiple sources and its relevance in national energy transitions.

Objective:

The objective of the Roundtable was to understand the progress of Hydrogen ecosystem across continents and contribute to creating synchrony among the thinktanks, Governments and the industry to join forces for developing innovative and sustainable technologies at attractive costs.

Online Grievance Management Portal of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC)

  • 130th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar was celebrated on 14 April 2021.

On the occasion, Union Minister for Communication & IT and Law & Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the “Online Grievance Management Portal of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC)” at a function organised by NCSC.

'MANAS' App

  • The Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof K Vijay Raghavan virtually launched the “MANAS” App to promote wellbeing across age groups.

MANAS which stands for Mental Health and Normalcy Augmentation System was endorsed as a national program by the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC).

MANAS is a comprehensive, scalable, and national digital wellbeing platform and an app developed to augment mental well-being of Indian citizens.

International

National Dialogue on United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021

  • India organized National Dialogue on United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021. The first National Level Dialogue on Agri-Food Systems-Advancing Equitable Livelihoods has been conducted on 12 April, 2021.

The National Dialogue was facilitated by the Inter departmental Group constituted by Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers Welfare and the representatives from UN Agencies in Delhi.

UN Food Systems Summit in September 2021:

The United Nations Secretary General has called for the first ever UN Food Systems Summit to be held in September 2021.

It will be held to strategize the actions for positive change in Agri-food systems in the World to realize the vision of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Focus:

The Summit will focus on levers and pathways to shape food systems nationally and globally to accelerate progress in the Sustainable Development Goals.

2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships

  • 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships were organized during 16th – 25th April, 2021 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It was the 49th men’s and 30th women’s championship.

Death

Chad's President, Idriss Deby Itno

  • Chad’s President Idriss Deby Itno has died on a battlefield with anti-government rebels, on 20 April 2021. He was 68.

Deby was confirmed president-elect for the sixth term. Provisional results showed he had 80% of the vote in recent election.

New Government in Chad:

Deby’s son, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, has taken over as interim leader of a transitional military council.

Mahamat Idriss Deby has named 15 generals to the Transitional Military Council that will govern the country for the next 18 months.

British Actor, Helen McCrory

  • British actor Helen McCrory died on 16 April 2021 in London. She was 52.

She was starred in the various popular shows & movies such as television show Peaky Blinders and the Harry Potter Movies.
