New Complaint Management System portal of the CVC

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the programme marking Vigilance Awareness Week of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 03 November 2022.

» On the occasion, the Prime Minister launched the new Complaint Management System portal of the CVC.
    • The portal is envisioned to provide end to end information to the citizens through regular updates on the status of their complaints.

» He also released a series of pictorial booklets on “Ethics and Good Practices”; Compilation of best practices on “Preventive Vigilance” and Special issue “VIGEYE-VANI” on public procurement.

» The Prime Minister also awarded prizes to five students who wrote the best essays during a nationwide essay competition conducted by CVC on the above theme of Vigilance Awareness Week.

» CVC observes Vigilance Awareness Week every year to bring together all stakeholders in spreading the message of integrity in all spheres of life.

India Chem 2022

⇒ India Chem 2022 was organized on 2-3 November, 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This was the 12th edition of India Chem.

Organized by:

India Chem 2022 was organized by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Theme:

The theme of India Chem 2022 was “Vision 2030: Chemicals and Petrochemicals Build India”.

Inauguration:

» Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 12th Biennial International Exhibition and Conference India Chem 2022 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 2 November 2022.

While addressing the occasion, Union Chemical and Fertilizer Minister highlighted various achievements of the Indian Chemicals & Petrochemicals industry which have become a global player. He also suggested the need to create a roadmap for the industry for long-term policy support, investment as well as export promotion.

Key Points:
    • India Chem is the flagship event of the Department and is one of the largest composite events of the chemicals and petrochemicals industry in the Asia Pacific region. It comprises an International Conference and Exhibition.
    • India Chem 2022 showcased the Government’s policy for sustainable growth in the sector and provided a platform for national and international players to interact, exchange knowledge and forge alliances.
    • The event also highlighted the investment opportunities especially in Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Regions (PCPIRs) and focused on the “Make in India” initiative for making the country Atmanirbhar in sector.
    • During India Chem 2022 events like Global CEOs, Round table; Conclave on Indian Chemicals & Petrochemicals; Argo-chemicals Industry; Plant Machinery, Pumps & Valves; Chemicals & Petrochemicals forums of India – USA, India – EU & India- East- Asia and international Exhibition, took place.
Other Points:

» The Indian Chemicals and Petrochemicals industry is the backbone of the Indian economy and plays a vital role in the growth of various key sectors like automotive, construction, electronics, health care, textiles and FMCG.

    • Export of Indian Chemicals has registered an overwhelming growth of 106% in 2021-22 over 2013-14.
    • India’s export of chemicals for 2021-22 has hit a record at US$ 29,296 Million, whereas in 2013-14, India’s chemical export was US$ 14,210 Million.

» The India Chem exhibition aims to showcase the huge potential of the Indian Chemical industry and different industry segments (e.g Chemicals, Petrochemical, Agrochemical Industry, Process and machinery) has in terms of a favorable ecosystem provided through supportive government policy, major investment opportunities for investors.

    • Market Size of the Indian Chemicals and Petrochemicals sector is currently USD 178 Billion.
    • India is not only the 6th largest chemicals producer in the World but also exports Chemicals to more than 175 countries. It accounts for 13% of India’s total exports.

41st Sharjah International Book Fair- 2022

⇒ Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India participated in the 41st Sharjah International Book Fair, one of the most acclaimed book fairs of the world.

    • The Publications Division exhibited its publications at Stall number ZA-3 in Hall 7 at Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE.
About 41st Sharjah International Book Fair:

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed AlQasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), on November 1st, 2022 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

Organized by:

The 12-day international book fair, was organized by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), held from November 2-13, 2022 at Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE.

Theme:

The theme of the 41st Sharjah International Book Fair was ‘Spread the Word’.

Key Points:
    • The international book fair hosted a stellar group of award-winning authors, intellectuals, and other literary luminaries from around the world.
    • The Sharjah Ruler also honoured Sudanese historian Yusuf Fadl Hasan, the SIBF 2022 ‘Cultural Personality of the Year’ at the opening ceremony.
    • The past edition of the annual Sharjah International Book Fair witnessed the launch of 17 volumes of the ‘Historical Corpus of the Arabic Language’. In this book fair, a new set of 19 volumes were launched.

Vigilance Awareness Week 2022

⇒ Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) observes Vigilance Awareness Week during the week in which 31st October, the birthday of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls.

    • Vigilance Awareness Week 2022 was observed from 31st October to 6th November, 2022.
Theme:

The theme of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2022 was “भ्रष्टाचार मुक्त भारत – विकसित भारत”/ “Corruption free India for a developed Nation”.

» As a precursor to Vigilance Awareness Week 2022, the Central Vigilance Commission had carried out a three-month campaign highlighting certain preventive vigilance initiatives as focus areas for all the Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations.

The six focus areas include the following:

    1. Property Management
    2. Management of Assets
    3. Record Management
    4. Technological Initiatives comprising two parameters
      • Website Maintenance & updation
      • Identification of new areas for service delivery for customers to be brought on online portal and initiation of steps for creating Online platform.
    5. Updation of guidelines / circulars / Manuals wherever found necessary
    6. Disposal of complaints
