Book, ‘Beyond Here and Other Poems’

⇒ Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik on 11 June 2021 released a book of collection of poems ‘Beyond Here and Other Poems’.

The book is written by senior bureaucrat Bishnupada Sethi and published by Har Anand Publications, New Delhi.

The book is a collection of 61 poems, which are a reflection of a spectrum of experiences in life, perception of death, and a philosophical contemplation.

Commander Coast Guard Region (East)

⇒ Inspector General Anand Prakash Badola, TM has assumed charge as Commander Coast Guard Region (East) with effect from 11 June 2021. The Flag Officer joined the Indian Coast Guard in January 1990.

Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH)

⇒ IIT Bombay has set up the ‘Koita Centre for Digital Health’ (KCDH) with a generous contribution received from its alumni Rekha and Rizwan Koita, under the aegis of the Koita Foundation.

‘Koita Centre for Digital Health’ (KCDH) will be the first of its kind in India, focused on driving academic programs, research and industry collaboration in Digital Health.

KCDH’s academic and research focus areas include clinical applications, healthcare data management, healthcare analytics, healthcare AI /ML, consumer health, public health and public policy.

‘Koita Centre for Digital Health’ will offer minor, dual degree, Masters and PhD programs in Healthcare Informatics.

Secretary-general of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

⇒ Rebeca Grynspan of Costa Rica has been appointed as the new head of UNCTAD, the United Nations trade and development body.

Rebeca Grynspan was nominated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres as secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The UN General Assembly approved the nomination of Rebeca Grynspan as secretary-general of UNCTAD on June 11, 2021.

The Costa Rican economist and former vice president of the Central American nation, Ms. Grynspan becomes the first woman and Central American to be appointed secretary-general of the UNCTAD.

Ms. Grynspan is an economist and current Ibero-American secretary-general.

UNCTAD is a permanent intergovernmental body established by the UN General Assembly in 1964 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

New Prime Minister of Central African Republic

⇒ The new prime minister of Central African Republic was named by presidential decree on the day after the former Prime Minister Firmin Ngrebada resigned.

Central African Republic on 11 June 2021 appointed former finance minister Henri Marie Dondra as prime minister, which takes effect immediately.

2021 Pulitzer Prize Winners

⇒ Columbia University announced the 2021 Pulitzer Prizes on June 11, 2021. The prizes have been awarded on the recommendation of the Pulitzer Prize Board.

The 105th class of Pulitzer Prize winners in Journalism, Books, Drama and Music were announced. The Pulitzer Prize is awarded in 22 categories in journalism and the arts each year.

Death

Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Shivamayananda

⇒ Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Shivamayananda passed away on Friday night i.e. on 11 June 2021. 86-year old senior monk was popularly known as Ranen Maharaj.

In 2017, Swami Shivamayananda was elected vice-president of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.
