QS World University Rankings 2022 Released

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings 2022 results were released on, June 8, 2021 by QS, a British company.

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), global higher education analysts have released the 18th edition of the world’s International University rankings.

For QS World University Rankings, universities have been evaluated according to the following six metrics (Indicators):
  1. Academic Reputation
  2. Employer Reputation
  3. Faculty/Student Ratio
  4. Citations per faculty
  5. International Faculty Ratio
  6. International Student Ratio

Indian Universities in Top-200 Positions:

Three Indian universities- IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IISc Bengaluru have achieved top-200 positions in QS World University Rankings 2022.

First Ranked University in India:

IIT Bombay has secured first position in India and 177th rank this year in the QS World University Rankings 2022.

IIT Bombay secured overall score of 46.4 out of 100. The Institute has a score of 51.3 in academic reputation, 79.6 in employer reputation, 55.5 in citation per faculty, 32.5 in faculty student ratio, 1.5 in international faculty and 1.6 in international students, all scores out of a maximum of 100 points.

Among these six parameters, Employer Reputation indicated the strongest one for IIT Bombay with a rank of 72 globally.

⇒ In universities rankings, IIT Delhi secured 185th rank, and IISc Bengaluru secured 186th position.

⇒ IISc Bengaluru has ranked 1st in the World for research.

Important Points:

  • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has topped the QS World University Rankings 2022 for the tenth consecutive year, retaining its top spot as the world’s number one university.
  • This year’s QS World University Rankings 2022 features 1,300 institutions, up from 1,186 last year, making it biggest QS World University Rankings yet.

Rank 1: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (Overall Score- 100)

Rank 2: University of Oxford (Overall Score- 99.5)

Rank 3: Stanford University (Overall Score- 98.7)

Rank 3: University of Cambridge (Overall Score- 98.7)

Rank 5: Harvard University (Overall Score- 98)

Indian Universities listed in QS World University Rankings 2022 in top 500:

Rank 177: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) (Overall Score- 46.4)

Rank 185: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) (Overall Score- 45.9)

Rank 186: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (Overall Score- 45.7)

Rank 255: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) (Overall Score- 38.1)

Rank 277: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) (Overall Score- 36.4)

Rank 280: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) (Overall Score- 36.3)

Rank 395: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) (Overall Score- 28.3)
