5th National Conclave on Standards for Technical Textiles

⇒ The Ministry of Textiles in partnership with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized the 5th National Conclave on Standards for Technical Textiles, Building Standards for India@2047 on 10 June 2022.

    • The conclave was inaugurated by Shri U P Singh, Secretary, and Ministry of Textiles.
Discussion:

It encompassed a wide array of sessions and discussions on standards and regulations covering different areas of Technical Textiles including ProTech & Specialty Fibres, AgroTech & MediTech, GeoTech & BuidTech, MobilTech, Composites and InduTech.

Participation:

300 representatives including Officials and Representatives from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Line Ministries and Departments of the Central Government, State Governments, and Eminent Industrialists from India attended.

Book ‘Prakruti Sainyam’

⇒ The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu released a book ‘Prakruti Sainyam’ published by Rythu Nestham Publications in Hyderabad on 11 June 2022. The book chronicles the success stories of 100 farmers who have shifted to organic and traditional farming.

Director, ICAR-NAARM, Shri Srinivasa Rao, Director of Telangana Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. S. Ramachander, Rythu Nestham Publications founder, Shri Yadlapally Venkateswara Rao, many farmers and other dignitaries participated in the event.

Biotech Start-up Expo-2022

⇒ Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology; Minister of State (I/C) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh addressed the session “The Way Forward” at Biotech Start-up Expo-2022 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on 11 June 2022.

He said, India is looking at a growth of the Biotech sector from $70 Billion to $150 Billion in the next 4 years and added that this cannot be accomplished without the active participation of women.

» The Minister released two publications, “75 Biotech products developed during 75th year of Independence” along with the “Compendium of 75 Women Biotech Entrepreneurs” on the occasion.

    • The booklet “Biotech Start-up Products” featuring exemplar list of product and technologies is a testimony of the unconditional support and handholding provided to different stakeholders eventually converting the efforts of innovators and entrepreneurs into tangible products.

» The Minister informed that India is ranked 12th in the world in biotech, 3rd in Asia-pacific and the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world.

DIPAM's Conference on "Creating Wealth through Market"

⇒ In celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)”, Department of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM) organized a Conference on the theme “Creating Wealth through Market” as an iconic event in 75 cities across the country on 10 June 2022.

Aim:

The aim of the initiative was to educate, encourage and empower people in 75 cities across India about investments and creating wealth as well as on the steps taken by the Government for ensuring financial growth of the citizens.

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt Nirmala Sitharaman joined the conference from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad participated in the Conference from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The event featured discussions on broad topics such as:
    • Growth of Indian Capital Markets in the past 75 years.
    • Women as rising Independent Investors.
    • Role of Government and other Market Players in improving Market Confidence.
    • Financial Literacy-a Road to financial wellbeing.
    • Future of Indian capital markets i.e. Amrit Kaal

CBIC launched “E-Lecture Series by Eminent Personalities”

⇒ As part of celebrations of “ICONIC Week”, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) launched “E-Lecture Series by Eminent Personalities” on 09 June 2022.

    • The Ministry of Finance celebrated the “ICONIC Week” from June 6th to 12th as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM) celebrations to mark the 75th year of India’s Independence.
Opening Lecture:

Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor, RBI, delivered the Opening Lecture on “Indian Businesses (Past, Present and Future)” at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

Host:

The event was hosted by the CBIC Chairman and organised by Mumbai Customs Zone-I.

World of Work Summit in Geneva

⇒ Union Minister For Labour & Employment Shri Bhupender Yadav participated in High Level Panel discussion in Geneva on 10 June 2022, organized by ILO under the World of Work summit on the sidelines of ILC meeting.

Theme:

The theme of the discussion was “Tackling multiple global crises: promoting human centered recovery and resilience”.

Discussion:

The discussion mainly focussed on multiple challenges that the world of work is facing such as worsening inequalities, demographic realities, unequal technological progress, informality, climate change and what action should be taken by the countries and the international communities to tackle these challenges so as to achieve the goal of human centred, resilient and sustainable recovery.

RAAF P8A visits Goa

⇒ P8A aircraft of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) arrived at Goa on 06 June 2022 to undertake coordinated operations with the P8I of Indian Navy (IN).

    • The P8I squadron INAS 316 at INS Hansa, Goa interacted and hosted the RAAF P8A aircraft.

The RAAF P8A and IN P8I aircraft conducted coordinated operations involving Anti-Submarine Warfare and Surface surveillance from 07 to 09 June 2022.
