National:
  • Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced on December 3, 2020 that the next “HunarHaat” will be organised at Numaish Ground, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh & Shilp Gram, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In Rampur, It will be organised from 18 December to 27 December, 2020. In Lucknow, It will be organised from 23 January to 31 January 2021. The theme of HunarHaat will be “Vocal for Local”.
Book:
  • The Vice President Shri M Venkaiah Naidu released the book “40 Years with Abdul Kalam – Untold Stories” written about former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on December 3, 2020. The author of this book is Dr Sivathanu Pillai.

International:
  • New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declared climate emergency on December 2, 2020. The government of New Zealand promised the public sector will achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
  • In the four-member U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committee, Indian-American Maju Varghese is appointed as the Executive Director. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will organise the activities surrounding their swearing-in, on January 20, 2021.
Kid of the Year’ 2020:
  • 15-year-old Gitanjali Rao, an Indian-American, has been selected by TIME magazine as the first ever ‘Kid of the Year’ 2020. Young scientist and inventor Gitanjali Rao has been named for her astonishing work. She used technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying.
Important Day:
  • Navy Day is observed every year on 4 December. This is to commemorate Operation Trident– during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Indian Navy plans to celebrate 2021 as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” to commemorating the 50th anniversary of the victory in the 1971 War.
Death:
  • Pizza Hut co-founder Frank Carney died in Wichita due to pneumonia on December 2, 2020. He was 82.
