National:

Eminent Engineer Award for the Year 2020:
  • Shri V. K. Yadav, Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Ministry of Railways has been conferred with the prestigious “Eminent Engineer Award for the Year 2020” by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Delhi. The award has been conferred for his outstanding contribution towards modernization and reforms over Indian Railways.
Book:
  • The new book on the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi was launched on January 1, 2021 by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat. The new book “Making of a Hindu Patriot: Background of Gandhiji’s Hind Swaraj” has been authored by J K Bajaj and M D Srinivas. The book has been published by Har-Anand Publications.
Samudaay Ki Awaz Puraskar:
  • UNICEF Maharashtra and Centre for Social and Behaviour Change Communication held the first ever Samudaay Ki Awaz Puraskar on 30th December 2020.
    In this award ceremony for Community Radio Stations of Maharashtra, ‘Puneri Awaz CRS’ was the winner of the Samudaay ki Awaz competition.
    The award ceremony felicitated the efforts of Community Radio Station (CRS) of Maharashtra and their participation in Life and Radio in Times of COVID 19.
South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020:
  • The 5th annual edition of South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020 presented by WAN-IFRA was announced on December 3, 2020.
    The South Asian Digital Media Awards are presented in ten different categories. The winners will be honored at the upcoming Digital Media India 2021 Conference, which will be held from 2 March to 4 March, 2021.

Death:
  • Urdu poet, Author, Critic Shamsur Rahman Faruqi died in Allahabad on December 25, 2020. He was 85. He was conferred with Padma Shri award in 2009. He received Saraswati Samman for his work Sher-e-Shor Angrez in 1996, & the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1986 for Tanqidi Afqar.
  • Former Union minister and senior AIADMK leader Kadambur R Janarthanan died in Tuticorin due to age-related problem on December 26, 2020. He was 91.
  • Tamil Nadu Congress Leader and former legislator D Yasodha died on December 27, 2020. She was 76. She was elected to the state assembly four times from Sriperumbudur constituency.
