Portal and Logo dedicated to the Conformity Assessment Scheme of milk products

⇒ The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched a Portal and Logo dedicated to the Conformity Assessment Scheme of milk products, in Varanasi on 23 December 2021.

Developed by:

The Portal and Logo have been developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) with the help of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

With the initiative of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, after extensive stakeholder consultation, a unified Conformity Assessment Scheme was chalked out by BIS with the help of NDDB.

This is a novel and first of its kind certification scheme considering the perishable nature and short shelf-life of milk and milk products, as well as the extensive cold-chain involved in the production and supply of milk and milk products.

Logo:

This has brought ‘Product–Food Safety Management System–Process’ certification under one umbrella with a unified logo featuring the earlier respective logos BIS-ISI mark & NDDB-Quality Mark and Kamdhenu Cow.

Missile ‘Pralay’

⇒ Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted second flight-test of indigenously developed conventional Surface-to-Surface missile ‘Pralay’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on December 23, 2021.

For the first time, two consecutive flight tests of a ballistic missile have been conducted successfully on two consecutive days.

In this launch, the ‘Pralay’ missile was tested for heavier payload and different range to prove the precision and lethality of the weapon.

Biogas based Electricity generation plant for the Milk Producers Cooperative Union Plant

⇒ The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Biogas based Electricity generation plant for the Milk Producers Cooperative Union Plant, Ramnagar, Varanasi on 23 December 2021.

Biogas based Power Generation project at Varanasi Dairy plant will utilize about 100 MT to produce biogas in about 4000 cubic meter/day capacity biogas plant. The biogas in turn shall be utilized to produce electrical and thermal energy which shall meet the energy needs of the dairy plant.

    • It will be a first of its kind project wherein energy needs of the dairy plant shall be met by cow dung.
    • The project with an estimated cost of about Rs.19 Crore shall result in net savings of about Rs.0.40/litre of milk handled at the plant and will be able to recover the investment made in about six years.

7 New Internet Exchange Nodes in UP

⇒ Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State, Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, along with others inaugurated the 7 new internet exchange nodes in multiple cities of Uttar Pradesh on 23rd December, 2021.

    • These nodes will be located at Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi & Gorakhpur. 

NIXI’s 7 new Internet Exchange nodes are bound to give impetus to the Internet ecosystem in the state. The objective of these Internet Exchange Nodes is to boost connectivity and digital economy in Uttar Pradesh.

35th edition of “Hunar Haat”

⇒ Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Labour and Employment Shri Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the 35th edition of “Hunar Haat” at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on 23 December 2021.

Inaugurating Hunar Haat, Shri Yadav said that “Hunar Haat” has given national and international recognition to the traditional skills of artisans and craftsmen from small towns and remote areas of the country.

Over 700 artisans and craftsmen from more than 30 States/Union Territories participated in this 14-day “Hunar Haat” organized from 23 December 2021 to 05 January 2022.

First Intelligent Transport system (ITS) on 6 Lane Eastern Peripheral Expressway

⇒ Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stone of National Highway projects of 240 Km worth Rs.9119 crore in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

    • Shri Gadkari also launched first Intelligent Transport system (ITS) on 6 Lane Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Dasna, Ghaziabad.

Inaugurating and laying of foundation stone for 6 National Highway projects in Meerut with a total cost of Rs 8364 crore, Shri Gadkari said with these projects it will be easy for the farmers of the area to take their crops to the market. It will lead to their economic upliftment.
