‘A-HELP’ Programme in Jharkhand

⇒ The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India launched the ‘A-HELP’ (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production) programme in the State of Jharkhand on 10 October 2023.

    • The ‘A-HELP’ program aims to empower women by engaging them as Accredited Agent who contribute significantly to disease control, animal tagging and livestock insurance.

During the launch event, A-HELP Kits were distributed to Pashu Sakhis, and the event witnessed substantial participation, with more than 500 attendees, including progressive farmers and Pashu Sakhis.

    • This initiative signifies a significant step forward in promoting livestock health, extension services, and women’s empowerment in the region, potentially leading to improved livestock productivity and rural development.
Key Points:
    • The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) is embarking on a novel initiative named as “A-HELP” (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production).
    • It has already initiated across different States/UTs including Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand.
    • The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) has launched the novel initiative through an MoU signed between DAHD and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Govt of India.
    • Under this program trained A-HELPs will give their vital contribution in preventing various infectious diseases of animals, artificial insemination under Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), tagging of animals and animal insurance.

Animated Series 'Krish, Trish and Baltiboy – Bharat Hain Hum'

⇒ Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur launched the trailer of KTB- Bharat Hain Hum, an animated series consisting of two seasons on 11 October 2023.

Key Points:
    • The series is hosted by the iconic animated characters Krish, Trish and Balti boy.
    • The series is produced by Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Graphiti Studios.
    • The series has been created by the creator duo of Munjal Shroff and Tilakraj Shetty from Graphiti Studios.
    • The series consists of 52 episodes, 11 minutes each, featuring stories from Indian Freedom struggle from 1500s to 1947.
The series was produced in the following 12 Languages:

Hindi (Master), Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese, Odia and English.

The series was also dubbed in the following international languages:

French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

» Crafted by the talented minds of Munjal Shroff and Tilak Shetty, the series consisted of 26 captivating episodes in Season 1, each featuring a 11-minute animated narrative.

    • Season 1 of the series began broadcasting on October 15, 2023, and ended on January 7, 2024. Season 2 of the series began broadcasting on Jan 28, 2024.

    • The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting decided to create a campaign to raise awareness amongst the children of India about our glorious Freedom Struggle and the numerous heroes across the country who made the supreme sacrifice for our country.
    • Every episode features popular characters Krish, Trish, and Baltiboy — previously renowned from the acclaimed KTB Movie series,” embarking on dialogues that delve into the tales of these unsung heroes.

10th India-Sweden Innovation Day 2023

⇒ Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh addressed the 10th “India-Sweden Innovation Day” meet in New Delhi on 09 October 2023.

Union Minister called for strengthening India-Sweden collaboration to effectively address pressing global challenges while remaining steadfast in the pursuit of immediate objectives on the path to achieving a net-zero future.

Theme:

India and Sweden jointly marked the 10th India Sweden Innovation Day, a momentous occasion emphasizing the theme of “Accelerating Green Growth.”

Key Points:
    • The 10th India Sweden Innovation Day recognized the unique opportunity for a comprehensive alliance between India and Sweden.
    • The celebration witnessed over 370 participants, including a delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) representing India, and brought together influential figures, including policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and businesses.

World Post Day 2023

⇒ World Post Day is celebrated every year on 9 October.

The purpose of World Post Day is to bring awareness to the Post’s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development.

Theme:

The theme for World Post Day 2023 was “Together for Trust: Collaborating for a Safe and Connected Future”.

This year’s theme urges governments and their postal services to support the development of a digital single postal territory that complements the extensive physical network developed over centuries.

History:
    • World Post Day is celebrated as a means to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern.
    • The event was declared by the 1969 Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress in Tokyo, Japan.
    • Since then, countries across the world participate annually in the celebrations. The Posts in many countries use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services.
Celebration in India:

India Post Delhi Circle Celebrated World Postal Day on October 09, 2023. During this, National Postal Week-2023 was organized from 09 October – 13 October 2023.

    • 9th October – World Post Day
    • 10th October – Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas
    • 11th October – Philately Day
    • 12th October – Mails & Parcels Day
    • 13th October – Antyodaya Diwas
Death
Padma Shri Awardee, Dahyabhai Shastri

⇒ Dahyabhai Shastri, an Indian scholar of Sanskrit and Padma Shri awardee, died on 10 October 2023 in Nadiad. He was 97.

About Shastri:
    • Dahyabhai Shastri was the founder of Brahmarshi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Nadiad. He is known for contributions in interpreting Sanskrit grammar and literature.
    • The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2016 for his contributions to literature and education.
    • He is also a recipient of the Gujarat State Award.
